Post op Back Pain???
I've been having a lot of back pain that I've never had before.. That was the one thing that I complained about after my surgery and it has continued.. I know early post-op that is has to do with positioning during surgery, but 3 months out it still hurts on a daily basis.. Also my left knee hurts a lot too. It's like a throbbing pain that last for like 15-20minutes then stops.. Before I had knee pain after standing for long periods, but now it's like out of no where it will just start hurting.. The knee pain I can deal with cause it doesn't happen all the time, but my back hurts everyday. I'm going to ask Dr. Dolan about it, but I really don't know what can be done.. I thought taking weight off was supposed to help with back & joint pain not make it worse.. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?
Sorry you are going through so much pain. I would talk to your doctor about it but you might be feeling the pain more for a couple of reasons 1 becaue of not being able to take the pain meds like advil because of your pouch and it takes so much liquid tylonal to get rid of the pain 2 you are able to do a lot more and our doing a lot more that your body is not use to it. just be carefull and talk to your doctor.

Hi April. I was wondering first if it could be that you are a lot more active than you were before your surgery? I know that I am and because of that, my knees really ache, especially at night. On the topic of back pain: It could also be because you are doing a lot more things. However I went to the doctor, (my PCP) complaining of back and leg pain and she ran some bloodwork. We found out that my potassium was dangerously low. I am by no means trying to scare you, I just think it is a really good idea to see your doctor. It's probably nothing, but better safe than sorry.
Wishing you well in life and weight loss!

My back was hurting for some time after the surgery. I asked my doctor about it because I was concerned that I herniated my disk and he said that while I was losing weight, my body had to adjust to the changes in weight lose. That I was probably walking different to compensate for this and this was causing my back to go out on me.
I haven't had really bad pains lately, but I do get aches in my back.
Its a good thing to talk to your doctor about it to at least put your mind as ease.
