Hello! I am now 5 weeks out.. The thing I found the most suprising is how much energy I already have. I also did not realize how difficult it would be to pick foods to eat... I realy have to think about that. I am now down 34.5 lbs and I feel awesom!

Hi, I had my surgery on Sept. 10. I am most surprised at how little appetite I have. I am down 30. Shelley

Holly: What was your biggest surprise and how many pounds are you down? You're wonderful at starting conversations, but don't be shy girl -- how is it going for you? The biggest surprise is my appetite, or lack thereof! Someone else posted somewhere that they are beginning to believe that maybe they are not really an emotional eater after all and I kind of feel that way. I have been through a lot of stress and emotion the past month with the surgery and loss of my sister (the biggie's amongst other things happening) and I have not once strayed or was tempted to stray from my plan. Given these cir****tances just a few months ago, I would have been eating who-knows-what! Now my question is, was my over-eating really emotionally based or physiological in nature because of fluctating blood sugar levels from stress and other things like that -- totally bizarre! I'm down 35 pounds from my highest weight in July, which was when I got back from vacation and gave myself a serious butt-whoopin. A week or so later I made some calls practically begging the insurance company to hurry up with my file! The rest is history and today I'm one month post-op -- and so are you! Congrats to us Take care and keep up the wonderful progress! ~ Kim

Hi Kim! I think my biggest surprise this past month has been how tired I am, I am used to getting up at 4:45 for work and not stopping until about 9:30 or so at night. Now I am sleeping in, resting, and still sleeping all night! I guess my second biggest surprise is how much my taste for food has changed, before surgery I detested fresh fish (now breaded and fried, that's a different story), but now I love it. As of this morning I am down 28.5 pounds! I am only two pounds away from onederland! Have a great weekend. Holly

Hello Sept. SuperStars!!! I had my surgery 9/25 and had my MD follow-up visit on 10/11 and am down 6 pounds. however I am down 48 pounds since Feb. 07. I have had a a great recovery and have been walking 2-3 miiles a day since Day 6 Post-op. I will return to work next week. I am working to not be a "Slave to scale" amd weighing only once a week as my clothes are getting bigger and I feel AWESOME!!! My biggest surprise is how difficult it is to fine something I like to drink. My pouch if "Fussy" although I am getting in my 64oz in, I can feel every sip that hita my pouch. I have found that warm drinks are suiting me better. I usually drink warm water. I was a huge crystal light drinker of all flavors pre-op, but nothing grooves me now. Good luck to everyone and Be kind to your Tool!!! Jackie

Hi Holly, I had my surgery on 9-12-07. Visit to my surgeon 28 days later showed that I am down 26 lbs. My biggest surprise was my being tired also. I often miss breakfast and start my day with lunch. Or I did til going back to work this week. Since it is the weekend, once again I missed breakfast.

I am sooo excited. Today is exactly 4 weeks out and I just had a saltine cracker with turkey and chees. I can't believe how good it was I haven't been back to my surgeon since my one week but I am down a little over 27 pounds. I am still struggling with getting all my protein in daily but I just keep trying.

Hi, I am 4 weeks out and have lost 27 pounds, most of the 27 was in the first two weeks. I was on my period for 13 days and only lost about 5 puonds total in the seconds two weeks. I am getting a little frustrated, however I am told that after around 30 pounds you will hit a bump in the road for a couple of weeks and then you will start losing again. I sure hope I start losing again soon. I am also struggling to get all of my water and protein in during the day. Do you think that is why I am stuck? I am having a hard time just getting in 32 oz. The only way that I am able to drink a protein shake is to blend in 1/2 a banana. Any ideas on how to get in more fluids/protien? I feel like I am full all day and I dont drink like I should. I have all the crystal light flavors and I also drink plain water, I just think I am bored. I was a diet pepsi junkie. I dont miss it but everything else is just blah!

I was a Diet Coke addict and nothing, I mean nothing tastes that good anymore but I am coping. I haven't had a DC since 8/31/07. I really miss it. I have found that the 4 cups milk, 1 cup powdered milk (Carnation) and Nestle's Sugar Free Chocolate is about the only protein drink that I can handle. I am also bored but I know it will be soooooooo worth it. Don't get frustrated yet. Remember it took us all our lives to gain the weight, it will not go away in just one month. I am thrilled with the weight loss so far. I just keep thinking about all the before and after pictures and can hardly wait to post mine. Keep up the good work. I did not have a positive experience with my dinner last night. It was the first time i threw up since surgery. Yuck. But it tasted great the first time Keep up the good work. We all have bumps in the road but it makes for a more interesting life.
