Tomi, I'm sorry for all of your "side-effects." I, too, have had the fatigue. When I called my Dr.'s office, they told me to be sure to get in my water. I've been trying, but plain water will not go down! My pouch aches when I drink it, so I have to use broth and diluted apple juice or iced tea to get in my liquids. This part I am NOT enjoying. Other than that, I'm doing okay, but the dehydration seems like my problem. I try to walk every day, but like you said, sometimes it's a total effort to just get myself up and dressed. If I walk, I get exhausted, not pumped up like some people. In my support group, people talk about all the energy they have. I wish I could find mine!!

Tomi, I am so sorry you had these problems up front, but am glad you are feeling better now. Don't be hard on yourself, if all you can do some days is get up and take your shower, congratulate yourself that you got that done! You are going to do amazing, and you are right, it does get better from here! Holly

Hi everyone! I had my Lap-RNY on 9/13 and am doing mostly well. I am having difficulty sleeping and getting in enough fluids, but all else with the surgery and food prep seems to be going well! However, I've had a lot of worry since my surgery as my sister is dying from breast cancer. She took a serious turn for the worse in the past week and the entire family is basically on death-watch. I've been running up and down the highway a lot and worrying, so I'm sure this is a major cause of my sleep deprivation. It takes all the mental energy I have to plan packing my cooler for the trips to my sister's place. I'm still on soft-puree's until my first surgeon visit, which is on 10/10. I was actually licking natural peanut butter off a spoon last night just to have something to eat -- it took me nearly 20 minutes eating it like a lollipop It will be much easier to plan when I advance to soft/moist next week and can quit lugging around my hand blender -- although it has been a wonderful investment! I'm happy with my weight elimination so far @ 33 pounds, but expect it will slow down once more solid food is introduced. That's ok though as I know this surgery is the best thing I have ever done for my health! My war with weight is finally under control -- yahoo! Glad to hear that everyone seems to be coping and doing well since your respective surgeries. I like that we have this forum to keep tabs on one another We are indeed splendid! Hugs ~ kim

Kim, You are an amazing woman! I prayed for both you and your sister, I hope you do OK with all that is happening in both your lives. Please don't wear yourself out, you have to take care of yourself too. Congrats on your weight loss, that is awesome! Please keep us informed on how your sister is doing. Holly

Holly: Thank you for the kind words. My sister passed away early Sunday morning and her funeral was on Tuesday. It's been a very emotional time, but we are happy that her suffering is over. I have lost track of what I am supposed to be doing for myself, but will soon get back on track with planning and recordkeeping. I go back to work for half days starting on Monday, so I need to get some type of routine worked up! Saw my surgery team on Wednesday and despite all else that is happening, they are happy with my progress. They assured me that although I am not at optimum intake for protein, calories, and fluids, the range I am in is not considered unhealthy (yet!). I have a medical background, so I do know the things to watch for that can stem from missing out on the things that are important to my diet right now. I went ahead and started on B12 dots and calcium citrate chews, which is a decision they supported. Normally their plan is to start on the supplements at 6 weeks out, where I am only 4. How are things going for you? I believe we had our surgery the same day (9/13). Take care and thanks again for touching base with me. It meant a lot! Hugs :: Kim

Robin, Congrats on your surgery! I am very glad you are feeling better, the first week is tough. I still get tired and now I am 3 1/2 weeks out, it is weird not being able to do stuff I am used to. Keep in touch, let us know how you are doing. Holly

Hello everybody - good to meet you all. I'm two weeks out from my lap RNY of 9/24 and doing pretty well, I think. I was in the hospital for three nights and have had no post-op complications. I'm still a little sore in the tummy, but almost off all pain meds. I've progressed from clear liquids to pureed foods and not having any problems with food. My DH and I are walking 20 mins or so every day and today I got on my exercise bike for a 15 min ride as well. I'm sorry some of you are having fatigue issues, but I'm glad to read it, because I thought it was just me! I know I wouldn't be ready to go back to work yet, or they'd find me sleeping at my desk in the afternoon! I weighed today and am down 14 lbs. which makes me pretty happy. I know I have to stop weighing myself daily, but it is such a thrill at this point to see that scale number going down. Best wished to the rest of the Sept surgery crowd. What a bunch of losers! Hope you are all feeling stronger every day! Thanks for starting this thread, Holly!

I am 3 weeks out today, surgery was 9/17. Only problems have been gas pains at night and getting water down. I'm trying any way I can to get my fluids in and feel less fatigued, so I guess that's working. I have a week and a half until I'm supposed to get back to work, but I honestly can't imagine getting up and getting out and back to my work schedule. I feel too tired for that! But, life goes on and I need to work!! You all sound like you're doing well. I'm thankful for no complications. My checkup is tomorrow, but I think I've lost close to 30 pounds. My home scale is so different from the Dr's, so I'll find out for sure tomorrow! Yesterday I got into a pair of pants that I couldn't zip up before, so I know that inches are going!! YAY!! Best wishes to everyone! Linda

I will be 2 weeks out tomorow and down 14lbs (23 total). I have been very lucky with no problems. I have felt very tired, although my mom said she was having trouble keeping up with me the last few days she was with me. I have 2 little ones, so mom flew out to be with me for 2 weeks. Today was my first day alone, they just about killed me! All is good, I can't wait for my clothes to be to big! -Naomi
