checking with with September surgeries
Hi all you September babies!
Just checking in to see how you are all doing now that it is a new month! I hope you are all sipping, moving and losing and feeling good doing it!
I am about 2 1/2 weeks out and feel great, except for this extreme exhaustion I seem to have every day. I am eating really, really small meals of healthy food, no vomiting, foamies or things getting stuck.
How are all of you doing, let's check in and start supporting each other!
Holly
Hello Holly and all.
I am glad someone started this thread.
I had GB on 9/25. Blessed to date with normal recovery and doing well. I do have to remind myself to sip and not gulp however at times. I look forward to this particular board being a good support for me and will do the best I can to do my part of the deal. My first goal of the week is to get my profile up to date. Hope to have it done by the end of the weekend. My one week surgiversary is tomorrow and will be the first time I will weigh. . My expectations are not too high as my b/p was low most of the time in the hospital and I had IV fluids going a a fast rate most of the time and I felt puffy when I got home. I am tolerating liquids and getting my 60+gms of protein and at least 64 oz. of fluid in a day, plus walking 3-4 times a day about a half mile each. The weather has been perfect here in Kansas City MO for recovery. OK "Team 9/07" Let's support each other through what ever this journey has to give us!!!!!
Jackie
Hi Jackie!
I am thrilled you are doing so well! Don't worry about the first weigh in, you are right, those IVs can be the pits. I think I came home about 5 pounds heavier than when I went in, but it went away really quick! The walking is awesome. I've only been doing it twice a day for 15-30 minutes each the past few days...I have been exhausted, to be expected I guess!
Have a great Tuesday and enjoy the fall weather!
Holly
I had my surgery on 9/13/07. I was blessed to come home 2 days after surgery. I have not had any complication. I also had my two week visit with my doctor and I have lost 16lbs so far. I am so happy. I can walk 2 miles everyother day. I am doing well. My the angels bless me and everyone.
Yeah, I can start going back to the gym.
Hi Alanis!
Congrats on the 16 pounds!! That is awesome! How long does it take you to walk your 2 miles, I find I run out of steam after about 30 minutes still.
I have another week or so before I can start back with my "real" workout, my surgeon doesn't want me to overdo it and risk a hernia yet!
Have a blessed Tuesday!
Holly
Good Morning Holly Horsman,
It takes about 30 minutes. 15 min per mile for now. Yesterday I walked 3 miles, I pushed myself and it took me about an hour(i ran out of steam). I was completely exhuasted!!(i will only do this about once a week for now)
I can go to the gym, but can only do cardio and left no more then 10 lbs. I have not gone to the gym yet. I want to enjoy being out doors with mother nature until it gets to cold.
Please keep me posted on how you are doing.
I wish you and everyone else good luck.
Hi Linda,
I had lap RNY, and am actually on a pretty open food plan right now. The only thing I am not allowed to have is fresh veggies and fruit for another week and a half or so. I was on clear liquids in the hosp. for Fri and Sat. morning, sent home on pureed foods, and last Thursday was released to "real" food. My surgeon doesn't have his patients do protein drinks or bars so we are released to food much quicker.
I am glad you are doing well!
Holly
Holly,
I was so nice to read that your dr doesnt have you do the protein drinks either! Mine doesn't and it seems like EVERYONES dr on here wants them drinking it. I had my surgery on the 25th and today is our 4 week anniversary. How are you feeling? I am struggling with the hibernation...YUK! Just don't have any energy, plus i am not eating a whole heck of a lot yet, so I know my body just needs to adjust.
