I'm so weak....why can't I stop???
Why can't I control myself?? I just had my surgery on the 17th and I've been following my clear liquid diet but this evening I just couldn't take it any more. After less than a week!! I didn't actually jeopardize my health but I did chew some potato chips up and spit them out. Why can't I stop?? I felt SOOOO much better afterwards. I was just so tired of liquids. I kinda wi**** would have caused me some sort of discomfort at least. What's to stop me from doing it again??? Has anyone else done this??
Barbara,
Don't beat yourself up so. We have all done it. At least you didn't swallow it. I had to be on liquids 10 days before surgery and now 2 weeks after. I had surgery on the 19th. Last night my husband grilled him a steak. Guess what I did, the very same thing you did. I just put a small bite in my mouth and chewed then spit it out. It was sooo goooooood. I haven't felt really good today maybe that has something to do with it.
My advise just take one day at a time. You didn't learn bad eating habits in a few days and you won't learn new ones in a few days either.

Hi Barbara...I so know what you're going thru. I had my surgery 9/18, clear liquids the day before surgery and continuing now. Last nite my mom made spaghetti and meatballs with homemade sauce...guess what I did...yep..had 4 very small pieces of meatball. Chewed them like they were the last meal I'd ever have from now on and spit them out! Was I disappointed in myself? No..know why? Because I'm human that's why. We all have foods that we just have to have. I feel as long as you don't swallow the "bad" foods then the taste of them has to satisfy you. If you can't handle just having the satisfaction...then you have to work on breaking the habit of that particular food. I don't feel bad after having the meatball. My problem is getting the water down...I'm not a juice drinker...neither a milk drinker ( can't have milk without Oreo cookies...feel me? lol) so I'm trying to get my fluids in. I'm still swollen from the surgery and I hope it leaves soon so I can feel better. I don't deal well with the skin on my feet feeling like it's stretched to the farthest it can go! Good luck gurl. You're in my prayers . Jacqui
