Surgery on September 26th - YEAH!
Sofar, so good. I'm losing 2 pounds a day on my pre-op liquid diet and actually feel pretty good. Thought I'd feel terrible but I have more energy than before. I'm a alittle nervous about my meeting with Dr. V tomorrow. Don't know why - I'm doing everything right. Wish me luck. Congrats to all of you who are joining me in surgery somewhere on the 27th.
Good luck, Angela! I hear that all doctors have different rules about pre-op eating. Or maybe it has something to do with how much weight the person has to lose - I don't know. All I know is that I am feeling better than I usually do. I'm not eating any crap, any carbs, just fruit in the smoothies, a few veggies, like tomatoes in my soup, and lots of protein in the form of powder. I definitely miss the actual chewing - I love to eat, and until this past February I was a closet smoker. I had to quit in order for my surgeon to even meet with me, and now I've been ciggie free for 6 months! I am very proud of that. The next thing I have to do is get moving - walking, lifting, etc. I'm excited to be looking ahead to a healthy future.
Keep in touch.
Deb
just reading your post-I am having surgery on 9/24-preop on the 20th-so I guess I'll be doing a preop diet too? I didn't know that, but of course, that makes sense!
I am crazy about getting on the scale before and after a meal-checking my weight! but I have prayed a lot for strength (from temptation of food!) and am looking forward to next Monday-post surgery. Nervous, excited and apprehensive. So I will look for your posts after surgery! Blessings!
Hello Deborah,
Looks like we will be sharing a surgery date. I am having my surgery that morning with Dr. David Dyer in Nashville. I've decided that this liquid diet is not as bad as I had feared. Don't know about weight loss, but I really haven't been overly hungry. Having lots of leg cramps, muscle and joint aches for some reason, but I guess that just goes with the territory. Hope your surgery goes well and we'll be sharing that loser's bench in just a few short days. Looking forward to a happier, healthier future. Best of luck to you. Kathy
