Valerie, In reply to your dizziness issues..I find that whenever I have a dizzy spell, I feel 100% better after downing a protien shake. It gives my body the extra calories, protien, and the fluids it desperately needs. As for my 3 month update..I will be officially 3 months out on the 22nd, But I am officially down 62lbs.. I am in size 8's, and loving life....I am currently 173lbs, and that is 10lbs from the thinnest I have ever been..OMG this surgery is a miracle. Congrats to everyone!!!!

Hi, My 3 month check up is on Wednesday and I am hoping to be down 74 lbs that would put me at 100 total since my first consult in June. I should be within a few lbs. of that goal. I have been to the gym everyday last week trying to get that extra in. All I want for Christmas is to be able to see my family on Christmas eve, (some of them for the 1st time since my surgery) and be able to say that I am down 100 lbs. I am also suffering from being lightheaded and dizzy when I stand up or if I stand for too long. I drink alot of water is there anything else that can be done for this problem? Congrats to All and Happy Holidays!! Valerie

I also have very thick long hair...but it is getting thinner, nothing noticable yet. I have been adding biotin to my diet...it helps in the growth of new hair.

Topic: RE: Tracking your food?
Are you doing it? Yes, I have a small wire bound [1/2 size] book that I keep track of everything I eat by grams of protein and everything I drink by ounces and when I take what vitamins. I keep a running total of protein down the left side of the page and a running total of water/liquids down the right side of the page. What things are you tracking? What I eat, protein grams, liquid ounces, vitamins and other meds How are you tracking it? Small notebook but will eventually go back to Fitday like I was doing pre-op How often are you tracking? Every day and everything that goes into my mouth Terry T RNY 9/27/06 -50# on my scale since surgery

I'm a person who apparently doesn't dump on sugar. Fats might be my issue - salad dressings and certain sauces get me "queasy" from time to time, but no dumping. Carbs don't affect me like they do other people, but I try to limit them. I average about 3/4 to 1 cup of food in a sitting, it goes back and forth between the two depending on what the food's consistency is. Today's menu, for example (and this isn't typical, I had to improvise at work): B - 3 tbsp of All Bran cereal w/skim milk (didn't have an appetite) L - 1 small biscotti & 2 oz. cheddar cheese (leftovers from a holiday party) S - repeat of lunch D - small grilled chicken breast and roughly 1/2 cup of salad greens (part of a huge bowl of chicken salad I ordered at a restaurant - it looked like I only "skimmed" the top of the plate - couldn't even fit all the rest in the To-Go Box LOL In between all that, I have as much tea as I can handle. So, today was more carb than protein most likely - but portions seem to be consistant. A little uncomfortable after the chicken salad, only because I likely ate it too fast.

I've kept up with my protein and vitamins, and I'm beginning to shed as well in the last two weeks or so. Three months is the magic number, I'm told - it seems we're all approaching that now. My hair's always been thick, and I cut my hair short about a month ago, so family and friends don't notice it so much, but it keeps falling. I may have to invest in a lint brush soon - seems I can't go more than an hour or two w/out finding a stray hair on my desk at work or sticking to my shirt.

I only keep track of how much water I take in each day and roughly how much protein I'm taking in. I glance at labels for sugar content on things that are "iffy." But I'm a strange bird for several reasons: 1. I've been a Weigh****cher since the age of twelve - I can eyeball portion sizes and relative nutrient counts nearly by "osmosis" - other former WWers might get what I mean by that. I did track my intake for about a week, to keep myself honest - and I found out that as long as I'm choosing protein-forward items at meals, I'm getting in enough protein and I'm not getting more calories than I need. 2. I'm one of those folks who apparently doesn't dump. I don't try the "obvious" no-no's, but things that other people dump on with one bite, I've been able to handle in small portions, so I don't have to be quite as diligent in that arena, other than to limit my portions. But what I DO count: Mugs of tea - I have a 16-oz mug that I fill up 3 times a day bare minimum. Some days I don't finish every sip, some days I get in more than that, but I at least have to attempt to get those minimum three in. Anything else is "gravy" so to speak :P On days when I've had a few carb items, I do a mental tally of my protein intake to make sure I get my "quota" in by the end of the day. No writing it down or label-reading, just a brief "stop, think, plan" minute before my last meal of the day.
