Topic: Hernia issues...and I'm cold all of the time.
Hello all! Ok, so I am 16 weeks out from surgery, and I had and open RNY combined with a galbladder removal and hernia repair. At this point, my hernia is still an issue.....it's location is right above my naval, and although my stomach and other areas on my body are shrinking, I still have this bulge on my belly--the hernia. Has anyone had this kind of experience?? Also, I've lost 73lbs so far, but I am always SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COLD!!!!!! I'm thinking it's the insulation being gone, but is there anything else I should be concerned about???? Thanks for reading! I welcome any and all advice!! Anne

Topic: How do we maximize our window of opportunity?
I need some advice from folks farther along than I am. I keep hearing people say to maximize the honeymoon phase. What does that mean exactly? I eat right and exercise some. What else should I be doing? Should I be exercising like crazy at this point to take advantage of the honeymoon phase? I am 10 weeks post-op.

Topic: RE: BREADS AND VEGGIES
We're allowed to eat breads but I usually save mine for the end and just have a little once I'm mostly full because I don't want to overdo the carbs. I found that I don't really like bread anymore so you may be surprised once you try it. (I used to be a bread addict!!) I've also found that I have better luck with crispy/hard things like toast or croutons. The soft breads tend to be kind of gummy and sticky and many don't like them after surgery, but do some experimenting. You will find out what works for you. I don't really have any veggie advice. I've been eating them since 7 weeks and haven't had any trouble with any of them. I haven't heard of any veggie restrictions so whatever you choose should be fine. Christine

Topic: HEY EVERYONE!
I have read all of these replies about pounds everyone has lost, it can be frustrating to see someone who had the surgery after you lose more than you but remmebr one thing!- the pounds you have lost are gone FOREVER!!!! it doesnt matter if it takes you a couple more months to lose what you want to than everyone else it just matters that you are doing it. If you are excerzing then you are probably building muscle ( and who doesnt want a hard body) Dont give up and dont give in to the foods you know you should not be able to eat but still can it is cheating and cheating will get you in trouble in the long run. I am proud of everyone of you. This was a hard discision and we each had to make it for ourselves. We are healthier and happier. Make it your goal to be happy for the pounds you have lost and a promise that you will be happy witht the weight that is sure to be gone with time. We did not get big overnight and the longer it takes to lose teh better condition our skin will be in later! I have lost 62lbs I am 1/2 pound away from my mini goal which was 200lbs. I feel and look like a new woman. I wish all of you are as happy as I am.

People have told me that I seem shorter! But I really am already short!!! SO I don't understand. I guess the weight gives us more of a "presence." Katrina

Hi all, Just wanted to share my day with you. I took all my kids bowling, and when I put on my bowling shoes I didnt pass out from losing my breath. I could actually cross my legs to put on and tie my shoes, easily I might add, what a difference. 3 months ago, I wouldnt have been able to bowl anyway, let alone get the tie shoes on!!!! I am feeling great, and have so much more energy to keep up with my 4 little boys! So glad I had this surgery!! Michelle down 81 pounds since surgery...
