Oh my gosh yes!!! I picked up running about 3 months ago...I NEVER ran, I mean NEVER even thought about running. I love it now...it is so freeing!!! I have taken on so many challenges post-op that I never would have before. I have regained my life, or started it for the first time really!

You are doing great then! I had the same 2 surgeries on October 3rd. I still have pain from them. Then tummy tuck is the worst!!! Yes, I have a flat stomach now and I am VERY grateful for that, but I would not go through this experience again. I had an infection after the surgeries. I had a spot that had to be opened up and packed with gauze...yikes! Good luck with this...if you have any ???'s just ask me.

Topic: Recovering from Hernia Repair and Tummy Tuck
Has anyone else had issues with a hernia? It hurt so bad, I am greatful to have that pain gone, only to deal with recovering from a tummy tuck. I had been staying at 142-145 range for month only to lose more with the pain of the hernia (if I ate it would put pressure on it and cause more pain!) My surgeon removed over 2 pounds of skin during the procedure (kind of gross). I'm slowly on the mend, today is only day 4 since I had it done. I'm still very swollen and can't wait for all of that to go away! Has anyone else thought of or had a tummy tuck yet? Please let me know it will look better after it has all healed! LOL! Kind of freaking me out at the moment! I go on Thursday to have the drains taken out! I so can't wait to feel more human! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Have a Great New Year!

Count me in as someone who discovered running - though at this point I'm still more of a jogger - I'm still on my way to goal. But I've done 4 5K races at this point, and the running has definitely re-shaped my body. I wasn't capable of even walking more than from car to desk before surgery, so I'm definitely appreciating what the weight loss has brought me - next week I start training for my plan to finish a sprint-distance triathlon in July.

Amy, you've made amazing progress in 6 weeks! The feeling of exhilaration after getting out there to run can't be beat. It's so addicting. I started running in March to prepare for a local 15K race. Even before I crossed the finish line, I was already registered for a half marathon and toying with the idea of running a full. I finished the Philadelphia marathon Nov. 18th and plan on running two marathons and several smaller races in 2008. Like you, I've found people to run with which really makes all the difference. Congratulations on finding an activity to keep you moving and motivated! Cassie

What did your surgeon say? I am having the same losing battle you are. I am almost to the point of being under weight and my nutritionist is mad at me and wants me to maintain. Easier said then done.

I have this too. I couldn't eat or drink for almost 4 months. I lost almost 10 pounds a week when I am suppose to be maintaining. It was and still is very scarey. They ended up taking my gall bladder out as it was not working. They said that it was also full of stones and for some reason they couldn't see the stones on all the tests. I still have stomach cramps (feels like flu cramps) and they can't seem to figure it outl I have been taking prilosec and it has helped but it is only suppose to be taken for two weeks every 4 months. I hope you feel better soon and if they figure out what the heck is the matter with me I'll let you know because maybe it's the same thing.

Hi Amy! I started running last week. Haven't really done much since due to a cold, but I did feel wonderful that I could run a WHOLE mile and not stop. I have always wanted to be a runner and was always too big. Can't wait to make it a habit. Kelly

Sounds exactly like a Peterson's Defect (Hernia). PLEASE call your surgeon ASAP....they can be dangerous. I had one and your pain sounds exactly like what I had. Best of luck, Karen
