Each person is different. My surgeon requires 2 weeks liquid diet to de-fat the liver.
Talk to your doctor about being put on a medically supervised prepatory diet called Optifast. Novartis Meal Replacement.
There have been positive results for my surgeon with this diet including jump starting the weight loss, preparing for fewer calories, and de-fattening (shrinking) the liver.

I have actually gained weight for my pre-op appt. Oops.
Any idea on how long it would take to get a pretty liver (as opposed to a fatty one) if I did protein shakes? One week? two weeks? 3 weeks?
