Hi, I am having my surgery on 9/13/06 and can't wait. I'm 63 and a retired educator. I've be obese for 20 years with many co-morbidities, too. However soon we'll all be on the losing side.

Topic: RE: PRE-OP WEIGHT LOSS????????????
I had to do a 800 cal diet for 2 weeks........It was hard the first day. I got a 1 cup measuring cup and measured everything. I was told to chew my food 20-25 times so I will be used to chewing my food good. I didnt really ecercise but I lost 16 pounds in 6 days. You feel real full. They want you to lose a little so your liver will shrink. It makes the surgery easier. I feel the DR should have given you more time. Good luck. You can do it.

I have mine on the 15th too. I am very excited and nervous. Nervous cause I'm not sure how I will do after surgery, Ex: eat slow enough, drink very slow, etc. I am determined to do good. I really don't want to mess up on anything.
Hugs,

How nice of you to ask . Its hard. I have to admit, I broke over and had coffee at work (caffeine). It was either that or keep hitting my face on the desktop as I snoozed off...lol...ok, it wasn't quite that bad! You'll be ok too. Maybe cold-turkey wasn't the best way to do it - try weaning yourself. I'm so tired, its unreal!
I am proud that I haven't had any pop at all - tho I still would love one. The headache (the real headache) is gone, but probably because of the coffee. I'm not a huge fan of coffee, so I think I'll be ok letting it go. Starting Monday, I've decided to mix regular coffee with de-caf, and by Thursday either being totally off, or totally ON de-caf. I miss my pepsi, and I'm still grieving for my soon to be lost foods, but I know that this is what is best...so I'm hanging on for dear life!!
Sorry about the needles - but you know in the end, its probably worthwhile. Hang tough! YOu'll make it.
I didn't ask about the liquid diet because I went back through my paperwork which specifically say to states no food or drink after midnight the day before surgery...since I don't remember them saying anything specific about a pre-op diet, and since they appear to think it normal that I might eat the day before - I'm risking it! My DH (who went with me to the surgeon) also doesn't think they said anything like that...so I'm going with it. (I am so probably screwing myself right now...lol).
Keep in touch, do you have a date? Make sure you post it when you get there. *hugs not drugs - or food*

Topic: RE: Sept 20th is my date .. dr juarez
Hi, Cindy. My date is also 9-20-06. I am also jittery. I live in Arkansas but would still like to get to know someone who has the same time left before surgery. Are you on a pre-op diet? I am confident you still be beautiful. I think this surgery won't add to nor take away our beauty because we are naturally that! God Bless You! I will remember to pray for you as I a send one up for myself.
