I am remarkably calm. I slept good last night and am off to Target to get last minute things for the hospital. Let's make it a good, calm day!

Topic: Lap RNY- 5 days post op and Ecstatic!!!!!!!
Hello fellow September members!!!!!!
I had surgery on 9/5/06 and am doing GREAT! The usual emotional hills and ruts, but nothing bad or unmanageable at all. I've been laughing with my friend about all the food I keep seeing and wanting, but today I finally felt that dissapating. Laughter about it has helped tremendously. I came home from the hospital eraly Thursday afternoon and have been walking and shopping and everyday, non-lifting, activities ever since. I used very little pain medication while in the hospital because my pain was extremely manageable. Almost as easy as my c-section 6 years ago. Since coming home, I have had virtually no pain and only otc Tylenol from home due to a slight fever the first night. No fever since. I have been able to get all my fluids in since Thursday and am looking forward to moving to the full-liquids. I am sooooo happy and excited that I made this decision. It amazes me that a year ago I adamantly refused to even consider this surgery!!! This has been one of the best decisions I have ever made!
Many Blessings to everyone this month!!!!!! I hope you all have as great an experience as I have!!!!!
Topic: RE: Hungry?
I think it's natural - the "reality" of it is setting in...my appetite comes and goes with my emotions, I tend to be able to tolerate more hunger when I've got other "stuff" to focus on.
And realizing that everything you put in your mouth from here on out will have a direct impact at surgery time is a strong motivator.
I'm a bit surprised that your surgeon doesn't have you at least go to straight liquids for a day or two prior....are you also doing a bowel prep?

Me too! Welcome to the club! Keep us updated on how you're doing!
Thoughts/prayers are with you all - good luck with your labwork/last testing next week!
Topic: RE: PRE-OP WEIGHT LOSS????????????
Stephanie,
I had been on a 1000 calorie liquid diet for 3 weeks and lost 17 lbs by my Dr.'s scale. My home scale said 20 lbs. As of today, I am going into week 4 and I have lost 30 lbs by my home scale. I felt my surgeon put me on a liquid diet to shrink my liver and also to see if I would be compliant with the diet. Hang it there!!!!!!

Topic: RE: SURGERY ON SEPT.13TH
Theresa~ You're not the only one that is waiting! 4 more days!! I know I can't wait! I know the first week will be a little rough (so I've been told). But bring it on!!
Topic: Hungry?
My surgeon does not require a pre-op fast, just nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before. Well, my surgery is on Wed, and I have hardly eaten anything the past three days. I am just NOT HUNGRY. When in my life has that EVER happened before? Maybe it's nerves. Anyone else lose their appetite before surgery?
