Well, I just wanted to say congratulations on the surgery. I just had mine last Wednesday and I am amazed at how much this decision has impacted my life. I had a similar situation after the inital couple of days. My solution was to drink warm water with a little lemon juice. I bet if you wanted to get creative, you could add a touch of splenda, just to sweeten it up. My doctor told me that this happened because my esophagus and stomach had been traumatized and needed time and TLC to recover. Everyone is different, but the body is an amazing creation and heals quickly. Remember to get your protein because protein is essential for the body to heal itself. Well, I hope that helped...Let me know how you are doing and congratulations again!!!! Jess

Wow! That's so terrific! Isn't our newfound energy amazing? My doctor suggests a 15 minute walks this week, but I'm only 5 days out. I'm sure I'll receive more specifics at my first appt in a couple days. Congrats on your success! The first of many...yea!! Jen

Hi there~ This feels like a dream. I had been planning this surgery for so long and now... I made it! Had my surgery last Friday and everything went according to plan; had lap RNY. I was sooo nervous and looking back now, I really didn't need to be. I'm still taking the Lovely liquid roxicet. I really expected I would be one to bounce back super quick, you know?...And not need the prescription meds, just tylenol. Sadly that's not the case~ roxicet is my friend this week, that's for sure! But, all in all, its completely manageable and I'm getting more energy each day. I have a question for anyone post op, too. I've talked to my nurse already, but I'm wondering if others have experienced this also. Here's the thing: my new stomach is very touchy. I've named her "the little lady", because she's cute (I'm happy to have her), but she needs very gentle care. I've finally figured out yesterday afternoon, that she only likes HOT tea or HOT broth. Forget anything lukewarm, and oh my, cold water from the fridge filter makes her cringe. Anyone else experience this, too? I'm on clear liquids for awhile and it's limiting my options even more...my head would love a popsicle or some fruit punch crystal lite, but the little lady says no, thank you. Just curious if there are others out there who have experienced the same. Take care~ Jen

I followed the Dr's diet to the "T". I lost 25 lbs from 6/14/06 to 9/8/06. Portein shake for breakfast, protein shake for lunch, break one protein bar in half for two snacks. Dinner is 4-6oz of protein and all the vegetables you can eat. My usual faire was a large salad with cottage cheese, fruit, turkey, carrots, and dressing, make it as big as you want. Another substitue was a spinach omlete, with cheese, also very good. It worked for me.
