Topic: My doctor said protien can wait...??
Hi all...I am one week post op (9/8/06). When I discharged on Monday, I asked my doctor about protien and what to have. He said not to worry about it for now, but to just have pureed/soft foods. I have some protien in cottage cheese, peanut butter, and scrambled eggs, but I'm eating 3-4 times a day, and about 1/4-1/2 cup at a time. I eat very slowly, waiting a couple of minutes between bites. I go back for a recheck at 2 weeks, so he may redo my diet then, but I haven't had any upset or anything. Is this normal???

Good Luck Vania, I'm having my surgery Monday also. Luckily I don't have to do the colon cleansing regime. My doc only require clear liquids Sunday and nothing by mouth after 12 am. I hope your surgery goes well and you have a speedy recovery. Beth C
Topic: RE: Post op 6 days
I am three days post op and my new little friend - who hasn't been named yet - lilkes cold and hot. Still taking pain medicine since I am sore when I get up or down. I am diluting everything and that seems to help.

Topic: RE: One week post-op...still bloated??
I am three days post op and feeling bloatd and haven't lost any weight. I am working hard at getting the protein, vitamins and liquids in. Lots of gas and very small loose stools. Burps are helping.
Topic: RE: Walking
this is helpful, I am three post op and wanted to walk further but was worried I was pushing it too much. I am also using a rocking chair to help with healing. Rocking did the trick after my c-section, so I think it should help now.
Topic: Only 3 more days to go!
I am just anxiously waiting for everything to be over...just got off work and I said all of my goodbyes and it was just emotionally exhausting. Now its time for my last meal before I start my 2 day colon cleansing routine.. then its off to the other side I go!!!! just really excited now...v.
Topic: One week post-op...still bloated??
Hey everyone,
I am one week post op. I had a RNY done laparoscopically9/8/06, and came home Monday. I haven't had any pain since last Sunday, but I still feel bloated, a little less each day, but still pretty uncomfortable. Is this normal? I am walking around the house and puttering...we just moved right before my surgery and have company coming in 2 days, so I'm trying to get at least a pathway cleared... Anyway, what else should I be doing to speed up this process. I feel like I am lazy, and sleep a lot. I don't even think I've lost any weight yet, even with the bare minimum diet... (no scale yet). Also, not to be gross or anything, but when I go to the bathroom, my bowels are still very soft and I have a LOT of gas!
Take care...from Sheri in Anchorage, AK!!

Hi Jennifer...Congratulations!
I had my surgery on 9/8/06, one week ago today. I came home on Monday. I haven't had any pain, but the gas thing is something else! Who knew there could be that much air up in there? I had a RNY done laparoscopically, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I have been eating pureed and soft foods.... fat-free cottage cheese, applesauce, scrambled eggs, sugar-free/fat-free pudding, mashed sweet potato...that's about it so far. I think I might try some tomato soup later today.
I have to go back to work part-time on Monday, and full-time the following week...what about you?
Take care. Sheri
