Topic: RE: Only 3 more days to go!
Hi - Congrats on getting to the "wind-up" part - the "pitch" being Monday!
I'm also a Monday op person.
I'm glad I followed advice and did liquids prior to starting the bowel prep - it's going much easier than I anticipated. I hope everyone else's "prep" day goes just as well!
Hang in there! Just a matter of hours til we're losers!

My surgery was Tuesday 9/12 and Posner in Buffalo has me on only liquids and it should include protein. I am drinking diluted Isopure flavored protein drinks, no carbs no sugar. It is hard to get all that I need - 50-60 g of protein is the goal. They said that the protein will help the healing process. I have also read that other places. Good luck, it does seem like each doc does things differently. Susie
Topic: four days post op pain
I feel like I have indigestion as well as being sore at my incisions. Anyone else have pain at this point. This is the first day without pain medicine so I don't know if it is wise to stop the pain meds now.

Topic: RE: Walking
Yes I found yesterday I could do my old route, just not quite as fast as preop... must be about 1.5 miles... Good to get back on my feet so quick. And same here, I can't wait to get back to the gym! We'll see what he says at the next doc appt on Tues.
Keep up the good work!

Topic: RE: Post op 6 days
Jen,
I'm 8 days post op and doing fabulous, driving again, short shopping trips, etc... good to get my independence back. I found fat free chicken broth to be wonderful. Give it a try, it's also quite filling.
My issue seems to be anything with aspartame, chewable tylenol, sugar free jello, it all runs right through me.
Good luck!

I'm sure every surgeon does things a bit different, but I have to admit I'm surprised that you weren't set up with a nutritionist who is familiar with gastric bypass surgery.
My surgeon requires that you have a meeting with one BEFORE the surgery.
You also meet with his nurse for guidelines on the entire process including dietary. Then to make sure you get it, they issue a 3 ring binder with everything starting pre-surgery and going through to the ongoing maintenance phases.
Its really a great resource and I wish all surgeon's did something similar.

Hi Sheri
I had my surgery this past Monday 9/11 and I was told to start including the protein powders into my diet already. I also was told to stay on strictly liquids for 2 weeks then move to puree. Seems like everyone does it slightly different. I'd wait til your follow up and see.
Topic: RE: Surgery 9/12/06 any one else. very excited.
I had my surgery on the 12th and just now felt connected with other brave souls. I am confident in my decision, but haven't told many people so it is a little lonely in recovery. My family (my daughter) knows but only two other friends. I guess I am afraid of all the "hub bub" about it. I was nervous that morning but now my energy is all about healing. It feels good to be on this forum with others who went through it on the same day.
