Hi, I had surgery Sept 12, 2006....I started at 250, size 20 and now I'm at 175 size 12.....I have been in between 173 and 177 for almost 2 months now (my goal is 160) .....I also am worried because I can eat A LOT!! It seems like since Easter I've been able to eat a lot more than i ever could and thats because on Easter I pigged out...(i know, I know..) I can eat ANYTHING I want......nothing makes me sick. So now I've started kick boxing 2 nites a week for an hour and do an hour long dvd with step aerobic/weights another nite a week and I'm still stuck.....is anybody else finding that they can eat a lot more now...and arent losing?? Has anybody else been in my position but then started losing again??? HELP!!

Hey! I know how you feel! My surgery was on the 25th of September and I started at 247lbs and am now stuck at 153. I wore a size 24 pants and am now in a 10 but I am only 5'2. I have been here for 2 months!!! I feel like I can also eat ANYTHING I want. No matter what it is!!! Hopefully there is someone out there who can help the both of us! Good luck!! Jodie

I had my surgery on Sept 29 2006 & I have noticed also that when I'm able to eat (and that's a big when) I can eat more then I could last year but remember one important thing....YOU WANTED THIS SURGERY to feel better medically & to look better so do your very best to watch what you put into your mouth or you will be in the same boat before you had the surgery. If you like what you look like now and as you say you are exercising then watch what you eat & you will see the scale start moving. Good luck. Phyllis

Hey Phyllis-- Those words were EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I am eating crap daily (donut holes, candy that is laying around at work)--you name it--I am putting my hand to my mouth. I am going to read your post daily--you are right--if I don't stop I will be right back where I started...and then some...but only with a small stomach and a re-arranged g.i. system! thanks! Marcia.

Hey, I hear ya, if it weren't for the whole quantity thing, I would never known I'd had the surgery! I can eat anything, and I feel like it's more than normal-I also don't dump and feel some hunger, and even better I am 8 months out and hit a plateau that I feel like is never going to give up! I swear it's botched and I won't loose any more weight! I feel your frusturation because I don't have the same stories as all these other eating-half-a-pea people who are loosing 5lbs a week!

I find that the scale stalls if I let those nasty unrefined carbs back into my life, even if I'm exercising religiously. The starches/sugars go down too easy and we don't realize how many calories that we've actually consumed. I just went back to basics - protein first, fruits, vegetables and minimal whole grains - and I'm seeing and feeling the results. The scale is starting to move again and I'm back in control of the snacking that was sabotaging my efforts. I'm also paying more attention to my water intake. If I'm tempted to snack, I drink first and then if I'm still "hungry" 30 minutes later, I'll eat a couple of ounces of dense protein. That usually works. It was so frustrating to be running 12 to 15 miles a week and not see the rewards. So, if I'm going to put that much energy and effort into my exercise plan, I can't afford to negate it with bad food choices. Good luck!

Oh I so needed to read this thread! I'm losing about .5 to 1 pound a week, and I know I need to check my food choices. Thanks, everyone, for your input!

I'm a year ahead of you, and I had a long stall right about this point in my progress: 28 11 11 4 15 4.7 1 8.5 5 3 5.5 4.5 101.2 These are my pounds lost each month, and as you can see, April last year was only 1 lb, but as you can see I lost another 26.5 lbs between then & September. The kickboxing will help, but remember that you'll be adding some muscle, so you may not immediately see the changes on the scale. --BT

Thank you for the post....I did the same thing and now I can see it is somewhat normal....I lost NO weight for 2 months, no matter what I did and I thought that was it, the losing was done, I also had surgery the 12th of September, And it seemed like after the 6 month check up I started getting really hungry all of the time and could and did overeat...It was almost as if I hadn't had surgery because I pretty much couldn't control it. Then just the last few weeks I lost 6 lbs and it gave me the push to commit myself again... I started at 272 and stalled between 208 and 203....Then last week when i went for my B12 shot I was 197...Finally under 200 for the first time in my adult life...I was in a size 30-32 shirt and 26 pants and I am now in a 18-20 shirt and 14 pants..It feels good but I am still having issues because I look in the mirror and see the same fat me...Pictures show a difference but the mirror doesn't to me yet... They say it takes 18 months for your head to catch up to your body...I still get scared when I go to sit on a lawn chair, we went to the movies and I was bracing myself for the spilling over of my body into the next chair and it didn't happen...Lots of issues and I keep thinking I am going to wake up from this losing dream and be bigger than ever.... Good luck to you on this journey...
