OK 9-06 how the heck are we doing????
I didn't have any co-morbidities, but I'm down 40 pounds. Went from a size 20 to a baggy 16. I'll be in a size 14 soon! WOOHOO! My surgen is BIG on protien drinks. I'm not that fond of them and tend to forget. I'm doing better though. I tend to get the shakes if I didn't eat enough at breakfast or lunch. As far as how much I'm eating, still only around 4 table spoons. Is anyone eating more than that??
Doing well, seven weeks out and 46lbs down. I go for blood work in a couple more weeks but BP is down to 110/70 and I'm sleeping better and not waking up with back pain anymore. Hubby also said I'm not snoring when the CPAP falls off and I am definitely sleeping better.
The other day I was coming from a meeting and I went up a flight of steps, then I stopped, turned around and realized that a) I went up the steps and was able to continue my conversation in a normal voice without having to stop and breathe, and b) I was at the top of the steps and not red-faced and panting! WOOT!
I'm still doing protein supplements but I'm trying to hit as much of my protein target as possible with regular foods. I still get sic****asionally but it's usually from not paying attention to how fast I swallow. I go out to eat at least twice a week and haven't had problems ordering food...I've been able to tolerate all sorts of meat though I've stayed away from refined carbs and have had nothing with high amounts of sugar since surgery.
I'm about to run out of bottoms...everything I had was size 20-26 and I'm going to have to pick up some 18s tonite. Trust me I am NOT complaining
Anyone starting to lose hair? I don't think it's any worse than usual but I guess I'll know in a few more weeks...
Best wishes to all!
I'm doing great - feeling so much better than I was prior to surgery. I no longer suffer from Irritable bowel syndrome and my asthma symptoms are as good as gone. I started working out at exactly 4 weeks from my surgery date (when the doctor approved exercise), and it has helped so much - I've lost 10 inches in the month I've been working out at Curves. I'm down 43lbs total. I really watch sugar and carbs, and that seems to help. I also got to buy clothing in the Misses' department for the first time in years - I was so happy that I cried and so did my friend who was shopping with me! I never thought I'd see Misses' sizes again.
The only odd thing that has happened Monday night was when I tried decaffeinated coffee. I was at a business dinner and everyone ordered dessert, so I thought I'd try decaf coffee to keep myself occupied while they were eating. I felt really strange after 2 small sips, so I guess I won't be drinking that again! I am so thankful for this surgery - it has already changed my life so much in so many positive ways.
Hi,
I'm doing great, 10 weeks out and I believe next week I'll be in the 100's again!! I started at 250 and now I'm 204. I'm still wearing my very baggy size 18's because I have to make Christmas happen for the kids before I go buy myself anything. I'm sure I'm in 16's by now. (I just gave all my 14/16's away this past summer because I thought I'd never get approved!!) A friend of mine who had the surgery last fall told me to go to the salvation army in a high income neighborhood and buy clothes there for now because I'll be going through clothes so fast that it's senseless to keep buying new wardrobes. (she got a prada skirt for $10!!) She'd wear them a few months, sell them on ebay and use the income to buy more clothes. I'm still on protein shakes and bars, I have to be, otherwise I'd NEVER get the required amount of protein. I don't really care for eating because it's just not satisfying anymore. The pleasure is gone. (smile) Eating a few bites does nothing for me anymore and I can't stand eating so slow that your food is ice cold by the time you're done. Dont get me wrong, I do eat, but just not as much I'm probably supposed to be. Some days I feel like I'm screwing the surgery up and stretching my pouch because I feel like I'm eating like a pig and then other days I'll eat 3 bites of cottage cheese and feel so stuffed that I feel like I should make myself throw it up. STRANGE!! I also exercise 3-4 days a week with step aerobics and weight training for 45-60 minutes. It's hard getting the water in, I admit that. I usually get maybe (2) 20oz bottles in a day.........not nearly enough!! I go for my 3 month labs Dec 15th. Well, good luck everybody and keep up the good work!!
