Well, this has been a LONG HARD month. Lap RNY was 9/26/06 and I spent 25 days in the hospital. I ended up with a bladder infection after the surgery, got on antibiotics, then developed C-Diff ( a horrible infection in the intestines and colon), that led to Colitis, then I had severe pain, which was 2 bloodclots, ( 1 very rare), then I had thrush , had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy, all Normal thank goodness, but then they said I would have to have a feeding tube!!!!!!!!!! That was the last straw and I forced myself to keep on drinking and getting fluids in. So after 4 specialists, and blood thinners, I was able to come home 3 days ago. I so missed my family and 4 little boys. I am glad to be home and say that I MADE IT!!!! I am down 43 pounds, not really the way I wanted to lose that, but I hope the better days lie ahead! Michelle

Dear Michelle, I too had some of the same problems. I had my surg on 9/20, d/c on fri 9/22 and ended up back in the ER Mon 9/25. I had c-dif and colitis and was readmitted for a few more days.. After my course of FLAYGL Big pill 3 x a day The c-diff was still there and so I had to take it for 14 more days. Because I had to take it with food I was having CIB at 11pm and I think my weight loss stalled a bit. I have lost only 25 lbs but now that I am off the antibiotic I am feeling much better. Don't be surprised if you get it back... thats what I was told. I guess its really hard to get rid of. I also had thrush and had to take nyastatin mouth rinse. I am glad your home and everyday you will get stronger. Make sure you get your fluids in I know its hard. I have 2 boys and I know how hard it is not being there. I just wanted to let you know that I had the same stuff. My nurse told me it was not very common.. I usually am the one with the oddball stuff. have a great day! TAM

Thank you for your responses, I so appreciated it. Tammy, I am so glad to know that I am not alone. ( Not that I would want anyone to have gone through that), but it really does make me feel that I will be ok. How are you doing now? Warmly, Michelle

Hi Michelle, Now I am fine (knock on wood) I went to a dinner Fri night and ordered fish. I had no problems.. I haven't had any food issues. But I am super careful. I don't want to get sick or have that full feeling so I just kind of stop after I think I have eaten about 3oz. My diet is basically a CIB added whey protein in the am. yogurt for lunch w/a couple of saltines and a myoplex lite protein drink for dinner. I have tried homemade turkey chili. no Problems This week I will try other things.. It is so weird to eat potatos because I stayed away from them for so many years.. I bought sweet potato because they are better for you. Basically I have no complaints My surgery went well except for the c-dif which in my case was caused by the antibiotics. talk to ya soon, tam
