Post op 6 days
Hi there~
This feels like a dream. I had been planning this surgery for so long and now... I made it! Had my surgery last Friday and everything went according to plan; had lap RNY. I was sooo nervous and looking back now, I really didn't need to be.
I'm still taking the Lovely liquid roxicet. I really expected I would be one to bounce back super quick, you know?...And not need the prescription meds, just tylenol. Sadly that's not the case~ roxicet is my friend this week, that's for sure! But, all in all, its completely manageable and I'm getting more energy each day.
I have a question for anyone post op, too. I've talked to my nurse already, but I'm wondering if others have experienced this also. Here's the thing: my new stomach is very touchy. I've named her "the little lady", because she's cute (I'm happy to have her), but she needs very gentle care. I've finally figured out yesterday afternoon, that she only likes HOT tea or HOT broth. Forget anything lukewarm, and oh my, cold water from the fridge filter makes her cringe. Anyone else experience this, too? I'm on clear liquids for awhile and it's limiting my options even more...my head would love a popsicle or some fruit punch crystal lite, but the little lady says no, thank you.
Just curious if there are others out there who have experienced the same.
Take care~
Jen
Well, I just wanted to say congratulations on the surgery. I just had mine last Wednesday and I am amazed at how much this decision has impacted my life. I had a similar situation after the inital couple of days. My solution was to drink warm water with a little lemon juice. I bet if you wanted to get creative, you could add a touch of splenda, just to sweeten it up. My doctor told me that this happened because my esophagus and stomach had been traumatized and needed time and TLC to recover. Everyone is different, but the body is an amazing creation and heals quickly. Remember to get your protein because protein is essential for the body to heal itself. Well, I hope that helped...Let me know how you are doing and congratulations again!!!!

Jen,
I'm 8 days post op and doing fabulous, driving again, short shopping trips, etc... good to get my independence back. I found fat free chicken broth to be wonderful. Give it a try, it's also quite filling.
My issue seems to be anything with aspartame, chewable tylenol, sugar free jello, it all runs right through me.
Good luck!

Hellllooooooo, I am post-op 5 days and my little lady doesn't like cold drinks but is fine with popsicles (maybe because I warm them up an their way down). Gas is a killer and getting up and down is still hard for me. I can't wait to feel normal. Pain and anything that hinders my normal activitites makes me upset. I can't wait until I can eat some scrambled eggs!!!! Also, anyone have any protein options that DON'T taste like garbage. I tolerated the protein drink before but now it gags me.
GOd Bles to you all.....................
