Walking

Hi, everyone! I am just where everyone is with their walking. I know all the docs have such different reccomendations about the food plans and I am wondering what they say about the walking. Mine said 1/2 mile by 2 weeks out and 1 mile by 4 weeks. However, I have been staying with a friend out of town, until I FINALLY get to go home tomorrow, after my one-week post-op visit (yeah!-I'm homesick!). ANYWHO- we have been walking her neighborhood and tonight I did a little extra. We had no idea until we drove it, but I just realized this whole time I have been walking 1 mile and tonight did 2.5. I was SHOCKED! Not to mention all the walking while we have been shopping! Although, I guess that is more meandering than walking! So, sorry about the rambling- guess I'm hyper from the walking and trip to Wally-wolrd! Just wanted to know where everyone is on their walking... I cant wait to get to the gym too! Many Blessings to everyone!

Wow! That's so terrific! Isn't our newfound energy amazing? My doctor suggests a 15 minute walks this week, but I'm only 5 days out. I'm sure I'll receive more specifics at my first appt in a couple days. Congrats on your success! The first of many...yea!! Jen

this is helpful, I am three post op and wanted to walk further but was worried I was pushing it too much. I am also using a rocking chair to help with healing. Rocking did the trick after my c-section, so I think it should help now.

I don't know. It must be just me, but I seem to have less energy than before my surgery. I used to tear up the elliptical and now I walk forever, but am slow as christmas. I feel weak a lot. But I guess once I can start back to my regular work out regimen, I will have more energy. I know the surgery is better in the long run, but I'm used to walking faster than all my friends, and now I'm struggling to keep up. Its highly embarrasing!!!...LOL

Yes I found yesterday I could do my old route, just not quite as fast as preop... must be about 1.5 miles... Good to get back on my feet so quick. And same here, I can't wait to get back to the gym! We'll see what he says at the next doc appt on Tues. Keep up the good work! Renee

My doc said to wal****il you can walk for 30 minutes. Guess after that the sky is the limit! Donna
