Hungry?
My surgeon does not require a pre-op fast, just nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before. Well, my surgery is on Wed, and I have hardly eaten anything the past three days. I am just NOT HUNGRY. When in my life has that EVER happened before? Maybe it's nerves. Anyone else lose their appetite before surgery?
I think it's natural - the "reality" of it is setting in...my appetite comes and goes with my emotions, I tend to be able to tolerate more hunger when I've got other "stuff" to focus on.
And realizing that everything you put in your mouth from here on out will have a direct impact at surgery time is a strong motivator.
I'm a bit surprised that your surgeon doesn't have you at least go to straight liquids for a day or two prior....are you also doing a bowel prep?
Yes when you are on the liquid diet Amy before the surgery it's almost impossible to be faithful to it. I know I wasn't able to be a Saint while doing it before my surgery on the 29th of Sept. I did slip 3 times but always went back to the liquid diet right after I had my slips. Hopefully you got to your surgery being almost entirely on the liquid diet & did well with the surgery too. Let me know how you are feeling now as I am 14 days out! Phyllis
It's so weird, my doc said no liquid diet except for the day before surgery, and I have to do a bowel cleansing. He did say to try to lose as much as we can before surgery but nothing specific (I'd already lost 25lbs).
Anyone else keep dreaming about surgery? I keep dreaming that I get to the hospital and everything up to surgery but that there's always some delay. I'm still waiting on my insurance approval so that may have something to do with it LOL...
In any case good luck to everyone on their varied diets and of course surgery!
