Top Ten Reasons September is a Good Surgery Month
I thought I'd start the ball rolling with some thoughts I had today about why September is a good month to start this journey: (In no particular order)
1. Summer's done, temps start falling - perfect time to start a walking program.
2. No major "eating" holidays until Thanksgiving (Halloween for me usually isn't a problem - not a real candy person.) 2 solid months to heal and adjust to the new status quo.
3. Most co-workers have finished their vacations - not so much of a hassle to schedule time off.
4. Kids are in school again (I don't have any - but I imagine for most people that would be a bonus.)
5. By the time next summer rolls around again, we'll have 10 or more months of losing behind us....shorts and swimsuits likely won't be so scary. ;)
Anyone care to add to the list?
Summer BBQ season is almost over.
By the time you get to thanksgiving and christmas you'll be more attracted to turkey then those dump causing icky things.
By the time you need a winter coat you can look forward to buying a smaller size.
You'll have more energy to play in the snow and to shovel it, and it's a great workout.
This yr when you make the new years resalution to lose weight next yr , you'll actualy be able to stick to it.....lol
If I had to give out any advice to those pre op it would be:
Take a few pics and measurments monthley.
Write yourself a note things like what you hope for, how you feel now ect, then open it on your surgaversary.
Update your profile at least once a month , You never know who is going to be looking up to you for inspiration, hope, confermation, or just to know they are "normal" so to speak.
Check the july and august boards to see what you can expect in the next few months...
Good Luck
