Topic: RE: Weigh in !!!
Ready to become accountable myself. I am 3 years out. I have went back to bad eating habbits. Too many carbs, no water, not enough protein, grazing and stress eating. Plus drinking. Gained 15-20 lbs. back. Depends on what time of the day I weigh myself. I am bouncing between 155-160. Want to get back to 140.
Started drinking water. Cutting back on coffee. No alcohol. Stocking up on protein. No carbs for a few days. Thinking of doing the 5 day pouch test but right now I am sticking to water, some coffee, chicken, tuna, eggs, just basic proteins. And taking my vitamens religously. And I am looking for a support meeting close enough for me to attend. Really need the support of other WLS people.
Surgery date 9/5/2005. Weight at surgery 249lbs. - lowest weight 139 lbs. - current weight 155 lbs this morning.

I go Monday to the surgeon and I'm going to ask him about maybe it stretched. And then if he does the stomaphyx. I have a feeling that's the problem. Everything just slides right thru.
The good thing would be that the pouch didn't stretch. (hopefully)
When's your plastic surgery? I'm still thinking about that. Did they give you and infusion for the ferritin issue? I had that. The infusions work. Now we just keep watching the numbers every other month.
Good luck on the plastic surgery and keep us posted.

Hello all
Yup it's been a while since I've come here to post - I do check in occasionally to see if anyone has posted and have read everything. I have not forgotten any of you...
I will celebrate 3 years on Tuesday Sept 9! What a ride it's been ... I am so happy that I did this surgery - it has changed my life and I am so much better for it. My daughters are both doing absolutely amazing and I could not be more proud of them...I have a great guy in my life now - we've been together about 1 1/2 years and he makes me smile on a daily basis...
3 years ago I was told that this surgery would not be a miracle cure for obesity and until I was out about years I did not believe any of that...then REALITY set in - I could eat more, I could tolerate sugar -- at first I didn't panic - I thought hey I can control this - I would just live by that little saying "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" - yeah right -- in the last 6 months I have gained about 10 pounds back - I was down to 158 lbs from 310 when I started this journey - I am now somewhere between 165 & 170 depending on the day. I lost my relationship with the scale because I didn't want to know...I stopped going to the gym because there were other things that took precedence...so now I am suffering. my size 10's became tight and I felt like a sausage in them - I couldn't put size 12's on because I GAVE THEM AWAY because I would NEVER need them again ... sighhhhhhhh! Old habits started coming back - snacking at night while watching tv, drinking with meals, drinking alcohol, eating sugar (my biggest downfall in life) ...
So! now that the summer is over I am putting myself back on track! I woke up on Tuesday morning and decided that I would go on the 5-day pouch test - I did protein shakes and water all day tuesday and "most" of wednesday - by wednesday night I was absolutely starving so I caved in and made a salad - I figured that wouldn't hurt me - I did the same thing on Thursday and will do the same today - 3 protein shakes and one nice size salad (lettuce, tomato & cucumber w/ a splash of dressing) - Saturday and Sunday will be "soft" foods and then Monday I will go back to normal food at a very slow pace and all protein ... and back to the RULES! My goal is to lose 15 pounds by October 9...I THINK I can do that but we'll see. AND now that the cooler weather is coming back I will be back to working out and maybe get my butt (which is getting bigger) back in the gym! but if not the gym I will be working out at home daily and getting back to walking. My feeling is that it took me a lot of hard work to lose all that original weigh - 15 lbs more should be simple (haha!!)
I hope all of you are doing well and I really do miss having the support of people that are going thru the same things I am - I'm very glad not to be alone in this....
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY/SURGIVERSARY/SURGIBIRTHDAY TO ALL OF MY SEPTEMBER 2005 FAMILY!

Doing well here. I'm working on correcting a low ferritin issue to prepare my body for plastic surgery.
My low weight was 140.2, which I think I was at for about an hour. Last November I was averaging around 145-148. Now I'm averaging 152-155, so I've had about 7 lbs of regain. I think a lot of that is muscle however. I have a very low body fat percentage so I don't have a lot of excess body fat, although I do still have a lot of excess skin.
On your situation - are you saying that your stoma has stretched? Have you considered having Stomaphyx done? I know a RNY'er up here who had it, and it seemed to work.
Six years postop. All co-morbidities are resolved. Lost 101lbs in 1st year. High wt: 277 Surgery wt: 260.7 Currently: 143lbs. I'm Blackthorne99 on MyFitnessPal.

Thanks Carol. The struggle goes on. But is one that I am winning. I was looking at some old pics yesterday, and my wife says. Wow I didn't realize you were that big. Isn't love great. hehe. Keep up the hard work. Mike
Topic: RE: gaining
Thanks for your reply. I have also gone back to eating the protien. I got away from it. It seems to be working and I am starting to lose again. I went up to 217 and am done to 211. My lowest was 207. I still am trying to get below that 200 mark. I am determined to do it. My aniversery date is 9/13/08. 3 years. It is hard to believe it has been so long. I am so glad I did the surgery. I can't imagine where I would be now If I didn't. I'm sure you will lose that 15lbs. Just keep that positive outlook

Hello all my Sept. 05 buddies. How are you all doing? Can you believe it has been 3 years this month?!!!!!
Is everyone happy about their decision? Anyone with problems?
I've had 15 to 18 pounds regain. I find that I MUST follow the rules and most importantly I must EXCERISE!!!!!!!!
The gain happened during the time I thought I was a "normal" person. But let's face it, a normal person doesn't eat french fries every day. So I quit eating the bad food and hopefully I'll get rid of these extra pounds. But I also slacked off on my excerise. I have to get that back into gear.
I find I can eat alot more. I don't think my pouch streched. I think the intestine attached to the pouch streched. So I think it's like having two pouches. Does that make sense to anyone?
Anyway, I wanted to stop by and wish everyone a happy 3 years. What a difference this surgery has made in my life.
I am now living life. Just walking is such a pleasure. Seeing the inside of the Mall stores was fun and still is. I missed alot of life but now I can enjoy it.
good luck to all and see you soon.
