Ok at 14 months post op I am at goal (130lbs size 4/6) and trying to learn to accept my body. I have to admit when I tried on a bathing suit today I did not want to throw up, that is improvement right?! Sorry for all the links, if I knew how to post the actual picture I would! TANYA, CONGRATULATIONS!!! I know how you feel - it's a great feeling isn't it. I always say (and have said on this board many times so if you've read it, please indulge me!!) that 200 going up is devasting, but 200 on the way down is the best thing in the world. No one knows what it means to get under 200 who hasn't suffered with obesity. Keep it up!! You'll get to goal, just keep doing what you're doing!! love donna

Topic: RE: BMI - sighhhhhhhhhhhh
I think it is all individual so I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. You say you are happy with your body and that is the most important thing really! My BMI is down to 22.7, my waist is 27 inches and I my body fat is only 23% yet I am still not happy with my body. If I could feel the way you do I would think I'd won the lottery. Like someone else said BMI does not take muscle and other things into account, that is why I also measure my body fat % and measure myself in inches....all of the factors together are what make for a healthier more active life and that's what you wanted right?! If your Dr says you are fine then screw the BMI charts, you have done great!!

Sounds like I am not alone but unfortunately I don't have any good advice for you. I went from a size 28 to 4/6 and I just don't see it. I know logically in my mind that if I can fit into a size 4 I CANNOT be fat but I still look at parts of my body and hate them. Mostly my hips/butt/thighs area which I have always hated even prior to becoming heavy so I guess it is no surprise that those demons are still there. I am trying hard to just accept my body the way it is. I really love my boobs now that I have had them done, if I could just get a thigh lift or lower body lift I think I would feel a lot better but I just can't afford it. I guess loose skin is better than filled up skin though....Congrats on your success. Pictures are usually my best way to see my progress, sometimes I sit and look at pictures of myself for an hour or more. I'm sure it seems conceited but honestly I'm just trying to wrap my head around the physical changes. Some day I'm sure we'll see what everyone else sees but until then we just have to remind ourselves that what we do see is not reality and not try to lose any more. I am healthy and even "skinny" now according to all the charts and everything so I know I don't need to lose more weight I just have to work on my brain now.
