Cholesterol anyone?

I just had my bloodwork checked and my cholesterol went up to 208 which is slightly out of the normal range. I've never had high cholesterol. Has anyone found this after the surgery?

The total number doesn't mean a whole lot - especially when it's so close like that is. Do you know what the break up is? - that's a lot more telling. My triglycerides went down about 100 pts which is huge for my health, but my HDL is still lower than it should be and my LDL is kinda iffy. (it's like 103 - one lab says it should be

My Surgeon took me off of my cholesterol lowering meds the day of surgery and my cholesterol has gotten better since surgery. He also told me that it would get even lower. I don't remember the actual breakdown on total cholesterol, HDL, LDL et al, but it has gotten better. Did you do a fast for the test? Something as little as a cup of coffee can throw off the results if you didn't fast. Paula

mine are down 154 total - HDL - 50 and LDL - 73 Last test was 3 months ago and was 160 total HDL- 47 and LDL - 87 I don't remember which is good and which is bad. Sandy

Diane, I was so glad to meet you Monday too!! You made me feel so welcome, I was so nervous about the kids acting up! Thankfully they were good! Which of the protein samples did you like?? I only liked the Isopure and the coffee flavor, although it was so strong for me! I got some and had a cappicino this morning I was so nice to be in a place where people don't judge you, ya know?! I am surprised more people don't go, I am sure there are alot more that Dr. Ordoyne had done the surgery. Maybe they don't have the time I guess. I would love to go the Baton Rouge group for OH. I can't wait to meet Francis. She is an inspiration for me! I love her up beat attitude! I really want to go to the next meeting! Wanna go together? Does your hubbie want to go too? Awwwwwwwww that was too cute. Thanks much. My doc told me at my one year follow up yesterday, that even if I don't lose another pound, I am a success and he was very pleased with my progress. He did agree I can continue to try to lose some more, but reminded me to let my body tell me when to stop, according to how I feel, and not play the numbers game. Easier said than done, but I will keep that in mind. All my labs were great and unless probs I don't go back to him for a year, just get the labs checked in 6 months. Guess what? I am back at 159 this morning after two days of 3 protein shakes, a cheese stick and 1/2 oz pork rinds. Plan to continue it the rest of the week, and hopefully be a couple more pounds lighter by the weekend and this yo-yoing past for now. Have a great day! Hugs, April
