Is any one else out there afraid of the protein bars? I usually have a yogurt and or oatmeal for breakfast. In trying to change things up a bit I bought some southbeach choc. peanut butter protein bars. It is like eating candy. I had one bit and my "dumping" thoughts attacked. My stomach turned and I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I don't want to get used to eating these foods again so I am going to avoid. How are the rest of you fairing? Does eating them have you craving other sweets? I don't crave chocolate at all any more and don't want to risk it. thanks donna

Yup call me scared of them too! I heard so much about Power Crunch Bars that I searched all over till I found them. At the time I think I was occasionally craving sweets (not so much anymore). I bought a bunch, ate maybe two, the rest are in my freezer. I think what got me was that they're like 185 calories with 14 proteins. I can get 14 proteins from cotage cheese and it's only like 90 calories . Micha

I like the idea of putting them in the freezer, at this point I gave them to my oldest son. He could use it. But having one or two in on hand for "that time" might not be so bad. I was mostly surprised how little I crave sweets now. thanks donna

i never eat them. Dont want the calories. All I drink for protein is one isopure 40 grms of protein. I tried to delete that and got light headed. So I am going to stick with that. Plus I like them. I love oatmill and yogart with fresh fruit.they are 2 of my favorites. I never eat candy never. I will never start. I dont eat chips. The only snacks I eat are fruit, triscuits, I am getting rid of those and popcorn. I got rid of that as well. Take Care Barb

I love the oatmeal and yogurt- especially now that I have added more fresh fruit. I was just looking for a change and don't think I wan to go down that road. I agree with the triscuits. - they give me the crunch I am looking for on occasion. thanks donna

I'm not afraid of them! I just don't eat them often. I have, oh crap, I don't remember what they are called... but they have 20 gm of protein and maybe 1 gm of sugar. The sugar alcohol certainly makes up for the lack of sugar though. Mainly I keep them on had in the car and stuff. I ate made 1.5 when we drove for our long spring break trip. I was never a big sweet eater to begin with, so that probably makes a big difference also. Amy

Nothing to be afraid of...just got to watch the grams of sugar on them. It can be difficult to find one with low sugar and low sugar alcohols but if I am on the run,the work great. I am not into couting calories so If I know I will be out for the day( I live in Europe and finding healthy food choices is not always easy) I will take a bar with me for a meal replacement. South Beach has a breakfast bar that only has 10 grams of protein but low sugar... don't know how many calories as they are not available at my commisary(grocery store) right now. They are kinda like rice crispies treats with less sugar and they are chocolate. ANother one that works is from Carb solutions with 2 grams of sugar and 14 of sugar alcohol...I can only eat half of one of these but again 20 grams of protein in two opportunities is better than not getting enough protein. I guess I should be counting carbs and calories like others, but that seems like so much more work when right now, i am please with my weight loss and although it has slowed considerably, I am within 30 lbs of my dream weight and that is great for me. I guess if I was more like the rest of the folks on this board I would do better with these last 30 lbs but I cannot get into counting everything about food.

I'm not afraid of them, just don't like to make a habit out of them. I really only have them when I need something sweet and if I'm out and about and need a quick protein fix. Paula

I use the Atkins Morning Start bars ,,keep em in my purse for when I am out shopping or running errands,,and cant get home in time for a meal. Its better than a fast food choice. I buy the chocolate chip , and the cinnamom apple,,,they are good,,and one satisfies me. 18 grams of protein I think too.

Thanks for the feed back. I think I will keep one or two in the freezer- for fast food I am finding that BK has a great salad with chicken that I like. It has 350 calories and 32 grams of protein. I don't add the croissants. I love salad and am lucky that I can eat it. I know lots of people still have problems with it. thanks everyone donna
