Depressed!!!
Ok, I know that everyone has been talking about it lately, I am not loosing like I use to. I know eveyone in our Sept 2005 group is in a stall, but I am getting REALLY discouraged. I just want to SCREAM! I told my husband that I am almost convienced that I am not going to loose any more weight. I just had to post and hope that you all send me some words of encouragement. Does anyone know when our stalls will stop and we will start to loose again. This stinks.... I am eating less than I was and trying to take in more protein, but I'm not loosing.
Has anyone out there done any research about how long these stalls take and when we will start loosing again????
Maybe I just need some information that will make me feel better?
Michelle~
Michelle,
In Feb I only lost 6 lbs for the entire month. My weight loss picked back up in March somewhat and I ended up losing 10 lbs for the month. I talked to my surgeon at my 6 month checkup and he said that these stalls and little plateaues are a sign that we are still in rapid weight loss. He said that losing consistantly 1 lb a week would indicate that rapid weight loss is over. He also said that 10 lbs a month this far out is good. I know when I don't lose any weight for a week I actually up my HEALTHY CARBS for a day or two and that usually will help. No worries, just stick with the program and it will happen.

Hang in there Michelle,
YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! The last two months have been dreadful with very slow weight loss and I am about 25-30 lbs from goal and it sucks!! I have increased my exercise this week due to the walk challenge to walk 60 miles in April and that seems to have kick started my weight loss again. Remember after 6 months the weight loss is SUPPOSED to slow down. It sucks but there it is. Feb and March were awful for me and although it stressed me out a little, I didn't let it rule my life... PROTEIN AND WATER AND EXERCISE rule my life now. I think(giggle) I am a little obsessed with the protein and water thing so that keeps my mind occupied.... Hang in there and know that posting your thoughts is always a good thing. Jacqueline
Hi Michelle,
Sometimes I get scared that I am only going to lose a little bit more. Then I think...." when was the last time you lost 70 pounds in six months ?" That gets me off my pity party. My last good "diet" was 30 pound loss in 3 months so I am happy. Like the saying goes...."SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE" Thats my attitude and I'm sticking with it...

I agree, the stalls suck. I just put myself on a "plateau busting" intake (for the first time) for a few days to see if it will work. I increased my protein intake from 76 grams/day to about 96 grams/day. I cut my carbs way down (around 20-25 grams/day) and I'm staying consistent with everything else. I am only 20 pounds from goal so it's going to be hard anyway. I really am not angry, disgusted or upset, just looking for a change! I can sit on a plateau for an average of 3 weeks at a time so I'm getting used to it. I just keep remembering that when I keep playing by the rules (which I always do) that the weight has NO CHOICE but to come off! Good luck.

Michelle I understand how you feel too, like you said it is happening to a lot of us. In Feb I only lost 5lbs, at my 6 month check up my Dr suggested trying to increase my exercise. I have increased my exercise along with my protein level and my water intake. Also make sure you are getting ENOUGH calories, it's not all about eating a really low amount of calories, if you don't get enough you won't lose. I don't know what your dieticians recommend but mine say 1000-1200 calories per day at this point post op. This is an average, it can be a little higher or lower from day to day as long as it averages out over the week, I tend to stick around 1000. I am drinking 80oz or more of water daily and eating 80g of protein. In March I managed to lose 8lbs so I guess it helped some, I would like to lose more than that in the next month but I have my doubts. We just have to hang in there and it will continue to come off, slow but sure. Oh and to top it all off I just measured myself for the month (today is my 7 months exactly) and I only lost 2.5 inches this month too!! WTH??!!
