Hi all you fitday'ers out there!! I am just starting to use this and have a few questions. First, when you are putting in a food and it says 'alcohol' does that mean sugar?? And if you put in from the label a new 'custom food' and then save changes and it says the calories don't match the fat and carbs, but you've copied everything right from the label? Can anyone help me? donna

Hi Donna, I've been using Fitday for the PC for a couple of months now. I do believe that 'alcohol' does refer to sugar. And, I have noticed that under the fats that Fitday does not recognize decimals, like 1.5, but will round it up. That will make a difference in the calories too. I haven't noticed that under carbs however. I do like the program overall. It has helped me with getting the proteins in and keeping a healthy percentage of fats and carbs. I just input the grams and let everything default. Just my thoughts. Always enjoy your posts. Sydney Surgery date: 9/23/05 Weight at surgery: 244 Weight today: 153 Goal: 140

Hi Sydney, do you use the 'free' fitday, or have you upgraded? I'm thinking of doing that. Also, what do you mean by you input grams and everything defaults. You mean on the 'report' stuff? Thanks so much for answering Sydney, and for you sweet comment about my posts!! You live in one of my most favorite places. I used to live in So Cal and for years we always spent our vacations in Big Sur and then to Carmel and Monterey. Just beautiful. We want to move back to California when my husband retires but I think it's gotten too expensive for us, now. We are thinking of maybe Arizona, or Nevada or New Mexico. Just somewhere out West. Our family is all in San Diego (except a sister in San Fran) so we just want to get closer. Oh dear, I must be lonely, I've gone on and on!! thanks again cutie, and look at you at 153!!! You go girlfriend!!! You are almost at goal!! love donna

Donna, All I use is the free fitday.com. It is really helpful when you feel your falling off track. That is how I knew how many carbs I was eating last week. I usally keep it around 90 carbs. The strawberrys raised it to 176. I am back on track. I also Have been keeping my weight chart on fitday. It is so nea****ching my changes. Progress in the last 6 months. When I feel I am having problems I go to fitday and it gets me right back in track. I highly recommend fitday. love barb

Hi Barb, I splurged and got the PC one. I am still learning, so I can't comment yet. I'll let you know. I do like doing it, and now that I got a new laptop for my birthday instead of a bike (like I really wanted) I can be online more and just enter as I go along. love donna

Donna, Your going to love your laptop. I will never buy another desktop computer again. The laptops the best way to go. I hate being stuck at a desk. If I dont have my laptop I dont get online that much. Let us know how you like fitday. Also they are great for trips hotels. You can get hooked up easy and free and look up your food and entertaiment. My grandkids love watching movies on mine when we are camping Hugs Barb

hI bARB, Yes I already do love it (except I have trouble with the keyboard sometimes since I sit in bed and just put it on my lap!!). And it is one with a 17" screen so these old eyes of mine can see. But I do find that I'm online more, just doing silly stuff. Maybe the novelty will wear off cause I really think I waste time!!! But you're right, so much better than a desktop. Our desktop was downstairs in the family room and I just felt so lonely going down and computing all by myself. Not that I have a lot of people in my house, it's just my husband, four cats, three dogs, and me!! But I did feel sort of isolated. But this is nice and the movie thing is a great idea!! I'll keep playing with fitday. It got easier for me today. Have a great weekend Barb. Maybe I'll be talking to you on the board!! love donna

Donna, I bought the PC version (for a special offer of 19.95 I think) so I could use it when we travel. I double checked the entry for custom foods and you do input by grams; first you input total calories per serving, the fat calories per serving and then the fats, carbs and proteins are grams, and the cholestrol, sodium, potassium are micrograms (mg) and the rest of the vitimins and such are input by % per serving. Hope I didn't confuse things. I do like the program. I input tons of new foods using the custom feature. Really does help keep me on track. Yup, I feel luck to live in this area too. Both my husband and I were born and raised here. We live on property that has been in my husbands family since the mid 1800's. Used to be the dairy on the Monterey Peninsula. Otherwise I'm sure we couldn't afford to stay. We have a fifth wheel and love to travel. Verde Valley area of Arizona is one of our favorites. I'm creeping closer to goal, but man or man is the weight coming off slow; maybe 2 pounds in the last three weeks. You know up a pound, down 1.5 and then up 1 again. Hard not to be discouraged. I can get so obsessive with the scale. I need to put it away. Husband is on a 24 hour shift so I guess I'm a little talky too. Warm regards, Sydney

Hi Donna, the custom food entries that don't match are an issue. Because there is a set number of calories per gram of fat, protein, and carbs when you enter something that is off (mine was low carb tortillas) the system cant make the math add up - I am not sure who is wrong, with all the new low carb stuff maybe they need to modify the criteria for calories. I just change the calories to as close as I can get them and remember that I have wiggle room when I enter those items. I also bought the PC version and love it. It tracks your measurements as well as weight, food, mood etc... Good luck, Lynn Banded 9/12/05 300/275/225/140

Hey Lynn, I just got the PC version and am still learning it. Just got it last night. I had trouble inputing custom food, but think I may have figured it. I don't have a big variety of food - yogurt, cottage cheese, chickent -- so hopefully I won't have to do a lot of custom stuff. I am going to do like you say and just change the calories (or serving size) to get the right calories that I need according to what I'm entering; Thanks Lynn love donna
