Hungry every coupla hours??
Hi everybody!
I got into the habit of grazing and sugary/carby snacks there for a few months. So I'm doing 3 meals a day-no sugar-no diet sodas-and only protein drinks between. The thing is... I'm HUNGRY (yes, I feel the physical sensations-stomache empty/growling/head foggy) at about 2 or 3 hours after a meal... I don't know if this is because I need more food (which I can't eat AT a meal obviously), or if it's my body getting used to the changes I've made??
My surgeon's protocol said 3 meals only anyway, but I know others eat more often. I'm NOW getting in close to 80-100 gms protein in because of the drinks helping, even though the surgeon said 60-70 a day...
I'm just hating the sensations and feeling like I need to eat.
Anyone else? How many times do you eat? Do you experience REAL hunger sensations again?
Thanks!

Shellie,
I eat three meals a day and ususally have two to three snacks as well. The snacks are usually string cheese( I eat it a lot) or other highprotein food like another kind of cheese or peanut butter. I get about 75-90 grams a protein a day and ALL my water every day( a must) so with all of that, I am only hungry when I do not eat on that schedule. Sometimes a snack at night could be pretzels as I am addicted to them, but only if I have 90 grams of protein and all my water.I hope that helps. My surgeon is German( I live here) and he says only three meals a day. My nutritionist who is American( Military) says to get enough protein 3 meals a day is not enough. With One protein drink a day and the 2-3 snacks, I get enough protein. String cheese has 8 grams of protein>> and Peanut butter has 8 grams for 2 tablespoons. I put that on crackers.
I am not one for counting carbs or calories...I guess if I stop loosing weight I will worry about that but until then... I am going to keep on... Though the weight loss is much slower...i am still loosing.
I hope this helps some. Good luck. Jacqueline
Try adding something of substance (like a cheese stick) along with your protein shakes for your snacks. Maybe that'll help fill you up some.
The foggy feeling may be a kind of detox from the carbs of late...
Try to add more water too...
AND...
Distraction with something first before you head for food. Take a short walk. Do a dance...etc...Get your mind off of the food.
I've found myself bored lately and reaching for food out of old habits. It's SO hard to break that cycle.

Heidi I believe you are right, I have had carbonation is bad. I have no had ANy soda of any kind since surgery. I drink 98% water I'd say, other than 8oz of milk a day in my protein drink I drink only water and I've gotten used to that doesn't bother me a bit. I never thought I could give up Mt.Dew but it was not hard at all. I'm not taking any chances.
