Apologizes and Explinations
Things have been... interesting... in the Malone household.
On Friday of last week I got fired. I knew it was coming, it had been postponed for over 6 months. It wasn't just me that got fired, it was my whole company. I had to spend all of last week wrapping up as much as I could and closing down the offices.
Then I had to go across the post and get re-hired by the new company taking over the work. So today I reported to my usual desk and did the same work I did on friday. Just for a new company. Weird.
At the same time, March was a horrible month for me. Worse than February and the cancer. I've been averaging around 20-25 pounds a month of loss. In February I lost nearly 40. Then in March I lost 9. I hate to admit it, but it REALLY bummed me out. I got SUPER depressed over the 9 pound weight loss for the month. I've been completely unmotivated and unable to get to the gym to exercise.
I'm hoping April will be better. I lost two pounds at today's weigh in, not great but not bad. And I've started moving again, getting in 10 miles or so on Saturday and a couple in yesterday. No miles today as I was at work getting the new office set up ALL DAY, and then taking care of the kids ALL NIGHT. I hope to swim and run tomorrow. And I hope to get up around 15-20 pounds of lost weight this month. Won't be easy, since I'm so far behind the curve right now.
But in the process I've just not gotten back on track with our monthly updates. I hope that next week, after I get things running smoothly at work, I can correct that. So please post your updates this week as you see fit. I'll pick up next week with everyone starting fresh. I've got some ideas on how to better set up the database, so it may be all new next week after I get some time to work on it.
Funny... here I am the one who started the averages because I didn't want other people feeling bad about their "slow" weight loss, and when I have a slow month I fall all to peices.
Micheal,
No need to apologize. All of us have been there where you are now. You have to figure you can't keep losing 25 pounds in a month- you would fade away to nothing. But it is a viscious cycle once you get down in the dumps. Maybe being back to work will help you get motivated.
I hope you feel better soon and the update board will still be there when you get ready.

My Gosh Michael!!!
You have been through so much these last few months. Give yourself a break. You are still the shineing example to many of us...so don't be so hard on yourself.
You know we all still love you....
Besides when have you ever before lost that much weight EVER. Your body is probably just catching up. Plus there is that nasty little stress factor.
Keep your chin up buddy and strive on....

Hi Michael -
I'm glad you're feeling better. It's funny how I always find it easier to give someone else a pep talk and can't take my own advice. Ironically, maybe your list will also give you some solace. I've been a slow loser since the beginning, and frequently experience weeks where nothing happens - I've toyed with the idea of joining your list, but been afraid to be the slowest of the slow!
I need to remember there are many, many reasons I made the WLS decision, and have achieved several of those goals already - and that these are more important than the number currently showing on the scale. I've dropped 5 sizes, can fit in movie theatre seats again, and don't get winded going up the stairs to the subway any more.
Wishing you all the best -
Mary Mc
hang in there mike. you are an inspiration to ALL OF US.
just to let you know, last month was also my lowest weight loss-- about 10 lbs. you are not alone. the key is NOT the weight. it's the INCHES lost on my waist, etc. i have lost 13" off my waist. went from a 4x to 1x. 18 1/2 " neck to 16 1/2". suit size 56 to 46. even though march i only lost 10 lbs., i noticed i lost INCHES.
take care buddy.
