6 month surprise
Hey Everyone,
Just had my six month check up and the Surgeon was concerned I was loosing too much too soon!! I could not believe it. OK, I have lost almost 40K's which is about 89lbs. in six months but he is worried I will loose too much!! I have never had that as a worry before and I still have about 30(at least) lbs more I want to loose!! I live in Germany and my surgeon who is one of the best in the world... but knows little(i think) about nutrition said I should not snack inbetween meals and only eat 2-4oz a protein a meal!! Gosh at that rate, I would never get enough protein!! Luckily, I used humor with him to point out the different view points of Americans and post By-pass surgery and HIS ideas.!! We laughed about it and I insisted that I am doing well on the American plan whi*****ludes Protein snacks throughout the day to get enough protein. YIKES. maybe I got it wrong? Is anyone else out there doing JUST three meals a day? I mean I do three meals a day but can't possibly eat enough in three meals to get all the protein. My Nuitritionist who is American, agrees with three meals and two protein snacks a day..... OK.
Today I am just gonna be grateful for being minus 89 pounds: gone forever!! jacqueline
It is strange how different these Drs are. Some days I can't eat my meals no less snacks, but when I can I eat 3 meals and 2 protein snacks. I wonder as well how informed on nutrition my surgeon is, his only concern is getting protein
. I believe that healthy carbs are important in our diet as well. Carbs make the brain and the colon work

every doctor says something different!! my surgeon and my nutritionist both advise me to eat 6 small meals per day- for the rest of my life.. It keeps up the metabolism and keeps us from getting so hungry that we make poor choices..
Recently however they are telling me to really increase my total calories (before they were saying ignore calories just make sure I get enough protein) from the average 800 im getting to at least 1300 per day because they too are worried im losing to fast.. I've lost 95# and am in the normal range for my height.. I think I could stand to lose another 20 personally.

My doctor stressed early on that you should only eat 3 meals a day. No snacking. I have stuck to this and lost 93 pounds so far. However, I do/did do protein supplements. I used Isopure and GNC liquid protien...so I considered it a drink instead of a snack. Actually the isn't much of a treat. Now that I'm eatting more I'm down to 1 supplement a day from 3.
