NOT LOSING
hi Carol...
I haven't been around much in the last 2 months...it's been a crazy time for me...this is the first message I saw and actually I am glad that I am not the only one that's not losing. I will be 6 months out on Friday and have lost 84 pounds...I am thrilled with that and feel so so much better than I did at 300 pounds...BUT! I have only lost 4 pounds since February 9th and it's driving me crazy. I eat right...I make sure I get my protein every day...I drink water (probably not enough but I am trying to get better)...I go to the gym 5 days a week and walk 3 - 4 miles on Sunday. I'm actually wondering if I'm doing too much exercise and gaining muscle weight...
I wish I had some suggestions for you, but I don't...I'm hoping that this is just a slow down period because I still have at least 60 pounds to lose!
Sorry I couldn't help more...
Linda

Carol,
How many gms of protein are you getting in a day???
You may need to up that a bit to lose more...Also, you may need to add more exercise to jump start yourself again too. Sometimes our bodies get used to the level of exercise we're doing and have to either alter what we're doing or work a bit harder to break that "stuck" cycle.
I think the winter months have put us all in a hibernation mode and we've slowed down. Spring is on its way and we'll be all motivated more then!

I have only lost about 10 lbs also from Jan I guess its the plateau that we are on we need to give our bodies time to adjust. It sounds like we all are at the same time frame and not losing but we are losing our hair. We just need to be a little patient and give ourselves a break because when was the last time we lost so much at one time. Everyone give yourself a pat on the back for what you have achieved at this time and this lets review this next month and see how much we lost!!

I have only lost 10 lbs since Jan 1 also. I am not that concerned. I dont' want to lose too fast becuase I don't want to lose muscle. I exercise 6x/week for 50 minutes. I am overall fairly pleased with the 60 lbs I have lost in just under 6 months. My doctor did not want me losing more than 10lbs a month anyway, so I'm pretty much on track. I know we all want to get to our goal in a hurry, but I really do believe it's better on our bodies that they are fighting us to slow down.
Just my two cents, or maybe I'm just trying to rationalize why i shouldn't be envious of those of us from SEpt 2005 board that are already at goal!!!
Just kidding.

I'm saying that it goes by months, this past two weeks was slow for me and the last time everybody was on a slow down so was I. It has to have something to do with the month we had surgery in and maybe every 2 months or so we have a slow down so our bodies can catch up, I did this in January and now in March, I have still lost -135 since 9-27 but I have weeks when I lose 5 or 8 then the next two weeks maybe a 1lb. I know this sounds crazy but hey it works for me, it keeps me motivated knowing that the weight will come off maybe next month.
