I need some encourgement!
I had surgery 9/19/05. Since surgery I have lost 73. Since last year I Since surgery on 9/19/05 I have lost only 73 pounds. I had a lot of health issues this past December with being in the hospital, having to be on prednisone for over 1 month which many of you know causes an increase appetite! I did not gain thank goodness but I did not loose much and not being able to exercise for almost 2 months put me back a bit. I am just a bit depressed because I cannot get that scale moving again. I have been doing water aerobics a couple of times a week, walking etc. Dr. Juarez was wonderful when I saw him for my 5 month check up. He said that yes others have lost about 25 more pounds than I have but that because of the prednisone, biopsy I had and being in the hospital all in the month of December he felt I was doing well especially if I look at the total number of pounds I have lost before surgery which adds up to 103. but I am so upset thinking the scale will never move again. Has anyone else had this problem. How much have you lost? I feel as though I am not doing well at this yet I feel good, everyone especially my husband has been supportive telling me I look wonderful and thinks I am doing great but when will the SCALE tip in my favor again?
I know you have probably heard this a million times but have you been measuring yourself?? Sometimes for me when the scale doesn't move I am still losing inches... especially when I am working out and building muscle. I know its EXTREMELY difficult when the scale doesn't move as I am in that position at the moment and I am still 45lbs give or take from my goal weight. Just keep in mind that the weight didn't come on overnight and its not going to come off that easy either.. and the closer you get to your goal weight the harder each pound will be to take off.. I know its frustrating but YOU CAN DO IT!!! We will all be here to support you. Just imagine trying to carry 103 pounds around with you all day every day... I bet you would get exhausted REALLY fast.. Think about how much better you feel now without all those extra pounds. Keep on track with your surgeon's requirements and you will be at goal before you know it

You are right. I have taken my measurements recently and am loosing in inches. They do say muscle weighs more that fat so maybe that is it. I know people I work with are saying it looks like I am loosing each week but the scale just does not move in the direction I want it to. I really appreciate you support. I really was in need of it. Thank you so much.
Hey Debbie,
Just keep up the hard work. I think noticing inches disapearring is part of it as well. Don't get on the scale for two weeks. Then I bet it will miss you so much it will move. And it knows it better move down or you are just going to have to get a new scale. Keep up the hard work. Track you calorie intake to make sure you aren't grazing and causing calories to build up. Best of luck.
Thanks Shannon, BY the way, I looked at your pictures on your profile and you look great! IAs of last night I now know I have lost inches if not pounds. Besides measuring I tried on some very nice hand me downs that were size 20 and they are fitting very nicely. I even took 2 pairs of "20" to the tailor to have them hemmed. It is better than buying new clothes. So yesterday I washed and iron all my new clothes. I was taking a size 26-28 and dresses in a 32 so I have made progress and should be proud of that. Thanks for the support.
