i am 5 months and 2 days out and i have only lost 68 lbs don't get me wrong i am enjoying the weight loss but i am wondering if i could be doing more because there are people on this site that have lost 100 lbs at 5 months out and i am begining to think that i am slacking or that i am cheating. so i want to know what everyone is doing so i could speed the process up a little bit i am waiting for the day where i get on the scale and it shows me under 200lbs (7lbs to go) my goal is another 73lbs off so wish me luck

I know that the more you weigh, the more you lose quicker...does that make sense? Your age also makes a difference. I've lost 87 pounds, but I have only missed 7 days of exercise since my surgery and 2 of those 7 were the 2 days after surgery. Even when it's raining, I put on hat, umbrella and I get my walk done every single morning...I'm up to 4 miles in one hour now. Also on Mon, Wed and Fri, I do an hour of Jazzercise. A little over a week ago, I started doing the strength training in the book, 5-Factor Fitness...only takes 20 min each day. I eat between 85 and 90 grams of protein each day, and between 850 and 1000 calories each day. I still struggle to get in the water and I usually only have 5-6 cups of water a day...I know if I can get that up to 8-10 cups a day, that will help too. I hope that helps... Pam, Your doing great at excercise. I do the same thing. It is like I feel quilty if I dont. I think I lost all that weight on my vacation because I wasnt excercising. and my mussel shrank. I am a true beleiver in walking. My doggy is ready everyday. He loves to walk to. He runs me. Walking can shrink a waist fast. If it is cold out I do the tread mill. Live it much more outside. Spring is almost here. You are right your fluid intake is low. Do you like ice tea. I drink tea like crazy. Helps me with my intake. and keeps me full. I think all your excercise is going to pay off. You wont need any surgerys doing all of that. I get 30 a day walking 20 minutes a day on the elliptical I do 50 crunches on the ab lounge. I do my thigh master. I use that on my arms alot to. I do other floor excercises. I keep my face clean and moisterzed at all times. I think I look younger now than when I did at 35. This surgery is truly amazing. Yesterday my daughter was telling me my thighs look so musclar. That made me happy considering I lost 7 inches off each thigh. Keep up the great weight loss Best wishes Barb

Hi Rhonda, it's sure easy to get discouraged, but from where I'm at right now, which is that I have been at a stall for about a month -- nada, nothing, zip, zero -- slow loss isn't bad, at least it's happening. Keep the faith, you'll get there. By the way, I could hardly get to 200 as well. Well that is where I've been for about the last month -- 199-200. Once I hit 197 and I thought I was moving, but nope, didn't happen, back to 199-200. I am starting to wonder if this is it for me!! Hang in there, we'll make it!! donna

Hi Rhonda I had my surgery on 9/28 and have lost 61 pounds since then. I don't know how much you weighed before surgery but the amount you have to lose I think depends on how much you weighed to start with. I think that losing slowly is kind of a good thing. Then maybe your skin will have some time to lose with you. Can I ask you ???? How long did it take you to put that weight on ???? I was 180 when I got married ( in 71) , so I figured it took me 34 years to gain at least 154 pounds. Trying every diet that came down the block. So I am not going to worry about losing it all in less than 6 months. I feel so much better now than 6 months ago. I don't get winded just walking up the steps. I have been using my gazelle, and walking the track at the local rec center. It takes time but I have plenty of that, now that I had the surgery ! Remember the saying "slow and steady wins the race" Don't beat yourself up about not keeping up with the others. Just my opinion. Sandy

Rhonda, As others has said, the more you have to lose, the faster it comes off...I had my surgery on 9/28 and have lost about 70 lbs since, but a total of 85 including weight loss prior to and I include that also in my stats... BUT, I have a lot more to lose than you do, I started this whole process at 330 and surgery day was 311. I'm at 245 now... My surgeon told me that if I want to speed up the weight loss, to do a lot more exercise...(the thing is, I don't exercise...I'm lazy and can't get my block head into exercise mode) Hang in there...make sure you're getting all of your protein, water and exercise...and you'll lose...and slower loss is better for you in the long run... paula
