Help! Water retention!
Hey guys, I need a little in put here! Today I started holding water, my ankles were swollen by the end of the day. i get my 60 ounces in a day, but this is something new.
I had an accident at work a month ago, fell and knocked out some teeth and ruptured a disk in my neck, so have been off work and on pain medicine. One side effect of the pain meds is constipation,,,I am miserable in that department. Nothing works.
I was really bummed tonight,,had a 7 pound gain when I got on the scales.!!! Im terrified!!! Im only 5 months out, have lost 86 pounds so far,,,welll, that was before the gain,,,,,,,
Im getting in my protein,,not able to exercise because of the neck. I drink my water and today had about 1100 calories.
ANy suggestions??
I have chf and hold water. I was taking three water pills aday. Now I am taking one pill. I wake up and I am swelled with water. After I take my water pill I start losing the water. It can be many things. I would go to my doctor. I am so sorry to here about your accident at work. I hope you get well from that. It could be the meds your on. I would seek a doctors advice. This can sometimes mean a medical problem/

Hey Betsy, I was taken off almost all my blood pressure meds last week, whi*****luded a water pill! Yikes - I don't want to weigh. But I was happy to get off the meds.
I don't know that this will help, but if you could increase your water that might be good. I know this sounds bizaar but I know someone who is a couple of years out and she swears by 100 oz of water a day - pure H20, not counting coffee, crystal lite, etc. She says it does wonders for water retention.
Hope that helps,
love

Thanks everyone for the posts! You were all so helpful.
I went into OH chat the other night and posted this same question, and someone there suggested Ineeded to have my thiamine level checked. To be truthful, I had not been taking my B1 (thiamine) supplement, because it tended to make me sick. But, I tried again, 2 times a day, and last night I had to go potty 4 times during the nigt, and this morning had a 4 pound loss!!:-0 Also, I upped my water intake too, so one of those two things helped, if not both. Added a protein drink at night too. Today I feel better, more energy. I think it may have been a combination of all those things. I went back and read pouch rules, and found that I had been eating easy foods,,not a lot of dense proteins,,and that may have been part of the problem as well.
Anyway, Im doing better, feel better. Thanks again for all your help.
Oh, I used to suffer CHF as well,,,so was watching pretty closely for that reason also. I havent had any episodes since surgrey, and am not on any meds for it. So, needless to say, I was concerned!
Thanks everyone!! I love this forum!!
