Back from the doctor.
I got in to see the urologist today, and he confirmed the ER doc's findings that it is cancer. It is in a very bad place, right around the tube going from my Kidney to my bladder. As a result, they can not attempt to take just the tumor, they will have to take my entire kidney. The surgery is planned for sometime in the next two weeks. They do not, at this time, think that chemo or radiation will be required.
Thank you for your overwhelming support of my earlier post. The responses made me cry with joy to know so many people can care about little (and still shrinking) old me. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
I will update as I learn more.

My dad, who is almost 85, had one cancerous kidney removed when he was 81 and is doing FABULOUS... he continued with radiation for 3 months and has been fine ever since...all his labwork comes back perfect every 3 months.
I will be thinking of you as you face this.....I think you're going to do great!

Michael,
I just read your news, and I'm so sorry you are going through such a bad time. I can't even imagine how frightening it must be for you and your family. Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. You have given so much to all of us on the September Board, you have the power of all of our positive thoughts and prayers with you.

The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Michael, encouraging news. My mom donated her kidney almost 30 years. Both her and her sister have live very healthy lives with one Kidney. I wish you didn't have to go through this, especially with all you gone through with the WLS. My prayers are with you and keep letting us know how you are making out.

Michael,
Let us know the details of your surgery as soon as you know them. When it will be, how long you will be in the hospital....etc. Will your wife have help with the kids? If we were in Huntsville, I would definitely be willing to help out as much as possible. Tell your wife to post as soon as she can afterwards so we know how you are!
Thinking about you and your family!
