Hello to all! I haven't checked in for about a week. But I do have a question for you? Lately I have been having hip pain right where your thighs connect to your hip joint, on both sides. ( for the ladies like the pain you feel when your hips spread.) That is the only thing I can compare it to. I have called my nurse and she claims this is not apart on the surgery but I have never had hip pain before w/ the exception of child birth. Has the weight lose affected anyone else's joints, causing pain? Marie 246/189/130

Marie, This was one of the topics of discussion at the suport group I went to last night. The "side sleepers" all commented that they were waking up with hip pain....those that sleep on their backs or stomachs didn't have the same issue. Would you be a side sleeper? Jody

Hi Marie, I'm not sure if it's the same pain, but I had something similar. Mine was all in my lower back, but it was because my hips were all out of place. I sought out a chiropractor for the first time, but man, she sure did the job! The pain is completely gone, and I've stayed more aligned... The only thing we've come up with, is my gait has probably changed so much due to the weightloss, that it threw things off. (couple the weight loss with snow/ice, and I can see how that would happen!) Anyway, most of the problem was exactly where the sacrum and hips meet, so it's a similar area. I generally do sleep on my back though - I started using pillows again, below and between my knees when I do sleep on a side. Oh, and we have a sleep number bed - I've gone from sleeping on a 30-35 to a 70. The pain is gone though, so I won't complain!!! Good luck! Amy 265/174(STILL)/150

Marie, I have problems with my right shoulder. This is also the side that I sleep on, or try to because it wakes me up now. I have been seeing a chiropractor for my back, but haven't done anything with my shoulder. Christine

If you sleep on your side try placing a pillow between your knees. This helps the alignemnt of your body. I use a pillow underneath my legs if I am on my back and between my knees if I lie on my side. I hope this helps you. Take care
