I went to my support group meeting last night and when it was over I asken my nutritionist again about this vitamin. She said that you take 4 of these vitamins a day and since it is chewable you will get enough of the b 12 and you shouldn't have to take anything else. After a couple of months they will check my bloodwork to see how I am doing. If my b12 is low then I will start to take the b12 again. She said that any of her patients that have taken this vitamin have not had to take extra b12 or any other vitamins and there blood work comes back ok. I am going to try them and see what happens. I take a chewable multi vitamin, b12 sublinquil, calcium and vit c right now. When I start the optisourse vitamins, I won't have to take any of the other vitamins. I hope it works out. The less I have to take the better. These vitamins are made especially for wls patients so they should have everything we need. By the way I get them from Walgreens. They didn't have them in stock but they ordered them for me. If anyone else has taken these, I would love to hear from you. Everyone have a great day. Carol W

I've taken Optisource from the start, but my surgeon requires more B1. Still, only taking the Optisource and one B1 is SO worth it! All of our Walgreens have it in stock though - maybe they'll start carrying it for you.

Hi Carol, I have taken Optisource since surgery and so far so good. I know that the calcium is the one that doesn't absorb with us that well (is it carbonate??) and that sort of concerned me so I take an additional 800 of calcium. I love these - it's like a sweet tart!~! donna

Donna, Do you also take 4 of them aday. and do you take anything else. All my doctor has me on is one centrum aday and my b12 and I take the calcuim caltrate my doctor said If I take 2 of those that is 1200 that some will absorb. I hope I am getting enough of everything. I worry about this Hugs Barb

Hi Barb, yes I take four of them. And like I said I've added some calcium. I don't take any extra B12. I have been reading and hearing alot of vit D and how important that is so that is included in the calcium one. Honestly though they are like horse pills -- so dang big!!! I had some blood work done today and will be anxious to see how that looks, although some of the definicienies that we may have won't show up for years even!! That scares me. I try to be real diligent about the vitamins but sometimes I miss a couple! love donna

Carol, I take the optisource also. My surgeon also requires us to take additional B-1 and B-12. And that is approved by our nutritionist....so i think it is like diet...everyone is different and they do labs to make sure we are ok. I got a friend of mine to try them also....and she likes them better than the vitamin protoccal that she was on. Our surgeon has three different ways of getting your vitamins. I get mine in Modesto or buy them here at Walgreens. Funny that if you go and ask them to help you find them, usually they can't! but i know what the bottle looks like and come to think of it..need to go and get some today too! Peggy

I want to start taking optisource. Can you tell me how the bottle looks and what it says on the bottle. I have heard quite a few are on them. Is it a chewable. and they only have these at walgreens? I will need 4 aday ?. Plus b12 and b1 and what kind of b12 do you take,. I take the kind from walmarts that is put under the tonge. And what lind of b1 ia it a tablet big or small. I feel like 1 centrum aday is not cutting it. I feel it is not enough. Thank you Barb

Barb, Hi...you take the B-12 under the tougue..the reason for that is that our pouch can't process it and it is absorbed under the tougue so that we get the B-12. none should be too big..i buy walmart brand B-1. The optisouce has a green label and says Specially formultated for use after bariactric surgery. If your walgreens doesn't have it, it can be ordered also. You do take it four times a day...not sure why we can't take all of them at once...my friend asked me about it..and i really don't know the answer but i prefer to follow the directions on the bottle..maybe cause of absorbtion or something...Anyone know??? Peggy oh yeah you can also check target.com for it as well. I went in the target store here and they don't have it but they do in Modesto where there is a bariactric center.
