scared to get rid of clothes
Hi everyone,
I don't post much but do read your input a lot. I am having a tough time getting rid of my clothes that are to big
I have lost 70# and this is about the weight that I have gotten to a few time in the past with serious dieting. The last time I got down to this weight 2 years ago I through all my "FAT" clothes out and Surprise all the weight came back and them some. I keep thinking that the weight loose will stop soon. and the weight will start to come back why am i thinking like this I try to be a positive person but i think i'm scared right now.. SO will throwing the clothes out help me feel like i'm in control ?? Or do I hang on to the clothes for security??
Is anyone else going through this or am I the only one???
Thanks for listening

I held on to all of mine until about 2 weeks before Christmas, and then took the big step and got rid of all of them. Some of my clothes I was really emotionally attached to and it was HARD. I, too, am about at the lowest I've been in like 20 years, so it's tough to think that I'll keep on going down. I understand what you are talking about..and feeling...

Paula,
I am down 56 pounds since surgery and have a whole bag of clothes that are too big...if it is something you really like, you could have it taken in..which is what i am doing with my tops cause they are special....
I too keep thinking ya i am losing the weight but it has always come back before and I paid for large clothes again.....well, this time we have a little added security..not to say you can't gain weight but we have our friendly little pouch and i intend to lose my weight and keep it off...no matter what i have to do this time. I have lost 211 pounds so i have a lot of clothes that i am getting rid of..either a yard sale or someone i know who can wear them........most of my friends are not that large sooooooo it would probably be easier just to sale a lot of it. not for a lot..mainly for what it cost me...i have a couple dresses i have never worn cause they were too long and i got that fixed and now they are too big!!! And when i got it fixed it was too hot to wear them in the summer cause it is jean material..so am going to have a bunch of my clothes taken in.
So that is an idea if it is something that you are sentimental about. Also keeping one outfit as is just because it will be a reminder not to get out of control again

Hi Paula,
I haven't had the huge weight loss as alot of people here have, but I have alot of clothes that were of no use to me anymore due to losing 51# now. I have 2 friends and one sister-in-law that benefit from my losing and so I LOVE to give them to them! I KNOW that my loss may be slow, but it's steady and I will not be this size ever again. Thank God!! Go ahead, give them to someone who can really use them. To tell the truth, 2 of the women I'm talking about have seen my success and don't particularly like to be the one's left behind and getting all my "fat" clothes. They are both investigating the surgery as we speak and have started on this journey, too. THAT is awesome, isn't it?
Good luck,
Kelly
YEP, I'm going thru this too, but it's cause I'm too cheap and poor to buy more clothes, and then who knows how long I will be able to wear them..
I'm sure I will wear some of my big clothes until they fall off me..
BUT>>>
I must say I broke down and bought 3 tops, last weekend, and just cried to find I fit in a 18/20!!!!!! I started in 30/32 just 73 lbs ago..
I havent done as well in the bottoms department.. I was wearing strechy 30/32, but I think I had streched them out beyond that! I can now fit in a jean 26W...It felt SO GOOD to wear both the 18/20 top, and 26W jeans today...JUST because I COULD!!!!!!
I have been thinking the same thing that those other BIG clothes are a security blanket, but i'm just afraid I wont have any clothes for work..
It seems I go shopping in my closet from the mismatched clothes I have gotten in different sizes.. I still wear my big 30/32, and everything in between, down to 18/20 and 1X........................
You're NOT ALONE...............I'm with ya...hopefully when I get down thinner I will give MOST of them up, although I know some I will keep as a MOMENTO, of how I DO NOT want to be again..
God BLess

Hiya Paula,
I have all of my clothes in a pile to donate to my surgeons office next time I go, but I am kinda afraid as well. I lost all my baby weight after I had kids and got into a size 11 before I gained the weight that made me have surgery, so I am also afraid to get fat again.
I have gone from a size 24 to a size 18 and I am done with the 24's. I am keeping my favorite jeans from before surgery as a reminder than I never want to come close to fitting into them again. Also, I wanna be able to take one of those pics where I am in one leg of my fat jeans or something when I am at goal lol!!
