Is anyone else freezing?
Hi
Yep I am freezing too.As a matter of fact for the first time in years I bought a thick blanket and use that and my top sheet just to try to keep warm.My sister the other morning came to wake me up and she was laughing because she had to try to find me under my sheets and blankets lol.I also bought a thick warm heavy coat for the first time as I usually just had a light jacket even in 20 degree weather.I also bought two pairs of gloves and scarfs lol.The other day I had on my gloves, heavy coat and scarf and my sister was saying my goodness its not that cold out and I told her oh yes it is! lol

Who needs heat now
Me to...cold, freezing, frozen! I heard this from some of the people at the support group too, and some of them are 2 and 3 years out. Seem to be a phenomenon with WLS patients.
The coldness has something to do with our metabolic rate. The body is an amazing machine, it will strive for a balance at all costs. When we were eating out of control, we had more fuel to burn, we generated so much heat, most of us were swetting all the time, red in the face, and hot. The equivilent of a jacked-up metabolic rate,I remember feeling like I was dying once when I was out to dinner, but I was the only one that was hot.
Now, our bodies have no idea what's going on, surgery, changes in gastric acid levels, way less food. It has turned the heat way down to preserve energy, and to become more efficient at preserving calories, and we're all COLD! What better way to preserve calories! That's why we all need to exercise, cardio, and weights. It increases the BMR. Have you noticed, you're warmer after exercise?
This is my theory...I would think there's a few more out there. I like the loss of flubber theory. I can't wait to tell my huband that one.

I was the same way. People would look at me weird in the winter because I'd be outside with short sleeves on and no coat!
Now, I sleep with pajamas and three blankets on because I'm SO cold.
I wear a sweater and a coat to go outside!
I NEVER wear socks, but lately, have been putting them on to wear with shoes...Inside, however, I'm still fancy free and barefooted! (but NOT pregnant!)
It's the weight loss. Being in ketosis and losing our insulation causes it! It's great!

Em,
I used to be cold all the time anyways..now i am FREEZING!!!!!!!!!! when i was younger i could wear shorts year round cause other than my hands and nose i didn't get cold..now well i would not dream of wearing shorts and usually have very warm clothes on and undershirts too! And sweats and anything to keep warm..think i am gonna tell Santa i need long johns next winter!!!
May order that for my birthday. now i don't go anyplace without my jacket on or in a heated vehicle!!!! Which drives my friend nuts cause she is like a oven if you are in the room with her..she could melt snow off the sidewalk..she is so warm and her 4 year old granddaughter is the same way! so it is a family thing with them. Anyways yah am FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know exactly where you are coming from!! I'm in NC, and normally am the "hot one". ("where's my fan, can we turn the heat down, who needs a coat") .. this year, instead of sweating at work, I'm actually wearing long sleeved shirts under my uniforms, and have bought a heating blanket for my bed, and lots of long pyjama pants (I never could wear more than a light nightie). Am loving the change and the freedom from the continual hot flashes!!! I hear that this is a common thing once you lose a bit of padding!!
