Is anyone else freezing?
I have to tell you...before surgery I was ALWAYS hot. I never wore a coat no matter how cold it got outside, so I don't own one...not even a big one. But now...I freeze...all the time!!! I wake up cold, I go to sleep cold, I am cold all day long. I blame it on the fact that I don't have the "insulation" that I used to have, but I am wondering if it is something that everyone is dealing with.

Hi Emily,
Freezing all the time myself. I can't get over the change. Its not just a little cold either. I actually will start to shiver. The good news, I can wear layers now. I actually put on thermal shirt under a shirt yestarday. I don't believe its just the insulation lost. I am hoping that when we get down to regular weight that my body will regulate itself better. I hope I am not dreaming. Living in New England and not being able to tolerate the cold is tough- espcially because I am a hockey mom and spend many mornings at the rinks.
good luck and keep warm

Emily,
I am dealing with the same thing, but I live in Northern NY so it is probably about 50 degrees cooler here than in AL. At night I sleep with thermal underwear, socks, a sheet, a comforter, a heating blanket, and another blanket on top of that. My hubby always picks on me because my hands are so cold he says" I better check for a pulse. However unlike I have always been cold, but not this cold.

There is some insulation we lose, of course, but there is a bigger issue going on. I read a big medical report on it a while back, so don't quote me, but as I recall from memory:
People going through weight loss are loosing fat, primarily as water. We are literally urinating our fat, and our heat, out of our bodies. So it isn't so much that our insulation is less... but that we have a heat leak in our system.
Even mild weight loss, or people who stay overly hydrated, can exerience the same thing, on perhaps a smaller level. We feel it because of the heat required to burn the fat that is then quickly removed from the body through urination. So we end up with a bigger heat loss with each trip to the bathroom.
Count me in on this one too. I sit by the door at work because I was hot all the time. Now I'm the one with long johns, a coat, a blanket over me. My feet are soooooooo cold and my hands so cold often times its hard to type. I too am hoping when my weight stabilizes this too will get better. Glad I'm not alone. Sydney
