Been Grazing Help Me stop ( Advice)
I have been grazing on food really since christmas. My weight loss has slowed down. I have been eating small meals every 2 hrs. or snacks. I have got to put a stop to this. Any advise on what I can do to get ahold of myself. I stopped taking my water pills. So I am alittle swelled up. I think this is depressing me. I am starting to feel like I am falling back into my old habits. It always happens at night time like it use to. When everyone else is alsleep. I have gained 2 pounds. I think this is because of the water pills. I wanted to get off those because they are dehydrating me. and I have been lite headed. I am afraid they will afect my kidneys. If anyone can offer advise please do.

1-get on a bike
2-take a long walk..an hour or more
3-start learning a new language on www.rosettastone.com
4-go for a drive to a new neighborhood with model homes and get decorating ideas
5-take up scrapbooking...go to a scrapbook store and look at all the great ideas they have there.
6-pretend today is the first day you are home from the hospital after surgery. Move cautiously, stay in the recliner. Sip soup. Eat SF Jello. have a SF popsicle. Take your pills.
7-take pictures and post some 'fat' clothes on eBay.
just some diversionary thoughts...HTH...the new language and the walking helps divert me the most. I listen to a book on my iPod while walking and that helps tremendously.

I think a few weeks ago when I was in your shoes you gave me some good advise. Tomorrow is a new day. Just do the best that you can everyday and you can't give up. Just think of how well you are doing when you go to reach for the food, and maybe ask yourself if it is worth ruining the hard work you have been doing.
I really not sure what to tell you about the water pills because I have never been on them myself. Are you sure you are getting enough water? I know you get rid of it faster taking the pills, but maybe you need to increase your water intake. I have been told the more you drionk the more it helps you with weiht loss.
I don't know if I have been of any hel*****t, but I just wanted to let you know that I am here if you ever want to talk.

I was just thinking the same thing last night! I've GOT to stop this grazing...
As you know, holidays bring about the chances of making the wrong choices in foods...plus, there's more food around than we normally have, so we fall back to the old ways.
As you know, my dad died on Christmas Eve and it's been kind of a stressful two weeks for me...not to mention that time of the month when I do feel more hungry...SO, all excuses aside, there was more food in the house and I definately haven't been following my mostly protein diet and lots of water...I slipped, but, it's time to get back on and start fresh again.
I found myself snacking last evening on pretzels and crackers...carbs that I just don't need...
I'm going to do stage one of South Beach next week. Absolutely NO carbs and have to get back on track. When I did that last summer to lose weight prior to surgery, I lost all desire for carbs...
Tomoroww is another day, and another day to seek out to make good choices...don't fret, you'll prevail!

Oh my gosh Barb, I have been totally having the same problem. In fact I am not sure any more what the difference is between eating 'small meals' and grazing!! I try to give myself a pass that I don't eat much when I eat so I get hungry and need more, like six small meals. Maybe that's not bad, I don't know.
But don't be bummed, we are still learning this silly process and we'll get through it. By the way, I am a night time sneak eater!! It sounds like that's what you are, too!!

Donna your right. We sneak and eat in the night. We need to stop it. My weight loss has slowed down. So I am going to work hard on this. Yesterday I ate to much I ate 3 bowls of pinto beans I ate cole slaw 3 times. I ate thin wheats and a piece of ham 2 times. It just seemed like I ate all day. I think having my husband home is driving me batty, he had surgery for his sleep apnea and is home. He is a big baby driving me batty and making me a nerves wreck. He is going to reserve airforce school on the 29 of this month for 6 weeks, I think this will do us good to get sometime apart.

Peep talk helps. Im going to straigthen up. I am not going to eat my way out of my surgery. Your all right. I have come to far. What is the heck is wrong with me. I will get the ball rolling..... You guys are great. I am doing great today. But then again it is early. When I get hungry I will think about everything I am doing. I am going to do the after surgery thing for a few days. and eat purees. I havent excercised in a few days. I will get that rolling back today as well. I need to go back and read my profile and remember what I have been thru, ( Im going to get into some home projects to keep busy and stay focussed)

Just curious are you counting carbs and calories and protein. Sounds like really you havent eaten too much. My doc suggested 5-6 small meals a day and protein first sounds like at least four times you ate it was almost all protein. Sometimes i eat more often than others just to get my protein in. Dont forget to measure yourself. Im sure your shrinking again. Im a little slower this last few weeks too but dropped another size in clothes. Keep the water intake up i know ive been lacking there as ive been working overnights and been drinking way too much coffee to help stay awake. Just a few more weeks of that then back to the regular schedule.
Dont lose the faith it will start moving again.

I dont count carbs or calories. I know on the beans like soup you can eat more of that, I count up to 60 grms of protein then I stop. I make sure to get that in. Maybe I need to start doing this. I like you are losing inches and sizes. The scale just isnt budging. I think the holidays just is a problem for me. I did eat alot of protein yesterday. That could have gaven me that full feeling quilt feeling I have. You all have helped.

Holidays were always my downfall. I would do great on the day of the holiday but then when all was quite the next day/weeks - watch out. I would clean up everything.
This time I went right back to basics. Protein first. But I still haven't gotten back to the excerise. That will be Monday (for sure-hopefully)
And it's not that I really was bad it's just that in my mind if it's not on program than it wrong. But that's my mentalatiy.(spelling)
Good luck getting back on. you will do it. I'm sure of it.
