How much can you eat?

I usually post on the main message board and somoene suggested I ask here... since we are all from 9/2005. How much can you eat? Ounces / type of foods. I measure my foods before eating and try to keep at 4 to 5 ounces per meal (usually ground beef or chicken 3 -4 ounces and veggie 1 -2 ounces). I am never full. Used to be, but am no more... On new year's eve I ate 4 ounces of ground beef (really dense meat loaf) and 3 ounces of mashed potatoes. Still not full. Freaking out now. So, my fellow Septemberites? How much can you eat? Hi Well it all depends on what the food is so like chili I can eat a whole cup cause it just goes right through.Stuff like steak and other meat I can maybe eat anywhere from 4 to 6ozs.Soft food like cheese I have to watch because its soft and I can eat more of it.Yesterday I ate about 4ozs of Turkey and 3ozs of mashed potatoes which was too much.Mashed potatoes are a soft food and you can eat way too much like I did if your not careful to measure(which I didn`t ).Try to stick to what your nut or surgeron says.If you are unsure give them a call.Hope this helps. I cant eat very much, I'm lucky to get in 4 oz, if that..but it dependson what it is, I eat4 smallbites of fajita meat , and it came up... it was too much... I have never dumped, but get sick if I eat too much, it can be 3 bits of one thing or more of like soup..about 1/2 cup.. I guess I am fortunate, cause I am never hungry.... I read your post on main board, and thought boy you can eat so much more than me,to be honest I was kinda jealous. It's frustrating to eat 3o 4 bites, or something and you're done, but that's what this surgery is supposed to do.... Tanya 349/358/**286**/185

Wow, 3 or 4 small bites at each meal sounds like so little for this far out. How is your blood work coming back? Good luck! Claire

With me it also depends on what I'm eating. A month ago I was able to eat some meat, now it feels like every time I try to eat anything that isn't soft, it feels like it's getting stuck mid chest. If the food is soft, I can eat about 1/2 cup. Micha

I know this sounds strange....Lately I have been able to eat almost anything I want. Today I had sushi!! I eat alot of meat. Of course, my portions are usually 8-10 oz per meal. I also ate some chocolate for the holidays. No problem. Lastly, I have had a few glasses of wine -- no problem. I even have had about 3/4 of a can of diet coke each day. I takes me about 1 - 1 1/2 hours to drink. Just sips. Sometimes the carbonation feels starnge, but overall, no problems. My appetite seems to be strong lately. I exercise often, and I drink a protein supp. every day. So far, things are going well. I haven't had a dumping episode for over a month!! There is hope for us all!! Take Care. Randy H. 366/272/215

I can eat pretty much what I feel like eatting. Unfortunate, but I haaad to pu**** just to see... I won't drink pop for fear of stretching my pouch but have had a sip once in a great while. I take the sip, let it sit in my mouth to reduce the carbonation from hitting my tummy and then swallow. Not fun and don't know why I try it. Concerning sugar, it doesn't really bother me too bad. There are certain things that make me dump, like cupcakes, but I can eat meat, salad, whatever without any problem. It's horrible, I know, but I eat what my family is eatting but in little bitty portions. My eyes ARE bigger than my stomach. I ALWAYS throw away a lot of food, it still amazes me.

Hubby is having a hard time eating. We don't measure cause he eats so little. He had RNY 09/28--- and is lucky if he can even eat 2oz of dense protein.
