How long before YOU noticed a change?

Hi, I'm 3 months post-op and down about 60 pounds. I couldn't be happier unless I could see it! LOL When I look at the monthly pics I've taken, I can see changes, but I just keep getting the "I can see it in your face" comment from people. Was my face that fat!? Anyhow, what was the first time/thing that made you realize for yourself that you were losing? Thanks, Jenn

Not to be too rude, but yes. Your face was that fat. Or more precisely, our faces hold a good bit of fat, and as you loose, the change there is more dramatic than anywhere else on our body. So yea, that's the place that the change is most noticable. BUT, we look in the mirror every day. We see the change in minute amounts, while others will see it drastically over days or weeks. In my experience, the waist is the last place anyone see it, but is the place we most want it to be seen. That is the most frustrating part to me. My chest and arms are so much smaller now, but I'm still in big sizes because of my humongous gut. Even though I'm down over 10 inches in my waist, I don't see it.

I lost 12 inches from my wasit from walking. Walking will do it. Walking and the elliptical will get that waist looking good. 10 inches is doing great

I do the walking too, every day! 2.5 miles. 12 inches is awesome. Way to go! At my last appt with my surgeon, she recommended I alternate walking with tae bo. I am going to try that, just to mix it up a little. Sounds like you already mix it up with the elliptical. amy

Yes I do the elliptical in the morning I do that now 3 times aweek (Walking everyday). I cant get over 20 minutes on the elliptical. The walking is alot better for me. I like to walk outside. But I do have the treadmill for if it is bad out. My dog thinks everytime I put my shoes on he is going for a walk, He loves the excercise also. I love walking it gives me a clear head. And really helps with my depression as well. And for my inner thighs I use the thigh master because that part need extra work. and I use that on my arms along with 5 pound weights. I am trying. It takes alot of work Happy New Years Barb

I started noticing the weight loss in my husbands face LONG before noticing it anywhere else. I think it can be said for anyone who loses weight--- it's much faster to see a difference in your face..... so they aren't trying to be rude, they are simply telling you where they see the loss. I could see the weight loss in Hubbys face about 40-50lbs down, and couldnt see the loss in his body till 90lbs or so. Darlene Hubby: 520/423/200 Looking into WLS myself for 2006

Hi there, Mine was definately the face. People would automatically look at my stomach..AAGHH!! I hate that! But then, they'd look up, OH, there it is! ;) My fingers are smaller, as well and since yesterday I noticed I have a collar bone!

Hi Yep everyone kept saying I can see the weight loss the most in your face but now they can see it every where else too which makes me very happy! Michelle

Hey Jenn, I get more compliments on weight loss in my face, too. I still can not see it just looking in the mirror, the only way I see the weight loss in myself is by looking at pictures...., but when I look at the pictures it is amazing! I hope you are taking pictures to be able to see the weight loss for yourself! ~~em
