Hello Everyone! I am new to your site, but have thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's profiles. You are all AMAZING! Keep up the good work! I had my wls back on 9/6/05. I started out at 242 and currently weigh 192. So I'm down 50 pounds and very excited about my progress. However, I have not started an exercise program. I'm flabby everywhere, but just can't seem to get motivated. I have a very stressful job (for which I sit at a computer 8-10 hours a day), then I have three kids to shuttle around for school activities, social activities, etc. Then, of course, there's dinner to make for the hubby, house-cleaning to tend to, laundry to be done. And with the holidays upon us, I just don't ever seem to have time for myself. Plus, I recently went to my family doctor and found out I have sacroiliitis, basically a herniated disc pressing on the sciatic nerve in my back. UGH!!! So, I get to go to physical therapy now 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Who has time for that??? I know I sound like I'm complaining, but I really am thrilled with how I look these days. I've got a long way to go, but when I think of how far I've already come, I'm ecstatic! (One of these days, I will figure out how to post pictures. If anyone can walk me thru that, I'd be forever thankful.) Any thoughts on what I can do to get rid of the flab? (Short of hitting the gym 3-5 times a week.) I did promise myself that my New Year's resolution is going to be to go to the YMCA and swim for at least 3-6 hours a week. My kids will love that, they can go to! But I'd love to hear your suggestions for what I can do to get started now. Thanks for listening!!!! Congratulations to each & every one of you for your accomplishments. Look how far we've come on this amazing journey! Dawn

Dawn - you have to take care of you so that you have the reservoirs to take care of everyone else. MAKE time for that physical therapy, and when it's over, move that slightly flabby but much skinnier behind over to the gym and keep up your 3x a week schedule. Remember - building muscle isn't just about weight loss. It's also about maintaining your muscle mass (including your HEART) so that your body doesn't break it down for energy. --BT

Dawn, I was glad to see your post, because it let me know I am not the only one having this problem. I am 58 years old and working now,,and have all those other types of responsibilities too. I have lost 66 pounds since my surgery on 9/14, feel so much better..but really need to get motivated. I think the thing that keeps stopping me, is, Im afraid Ill do it wrong!! Our church is right down the street from me, and we have a full workout room in our Family Life Center,,but Im afraid I will not use the machines right and cause some kind of damage, or just end up wasting my time doing stuff that doesnt do any good.. My daughter told me to get the book Body for Life for Women,,,so I think Im gonna do that and then start hitting the room 3 times a week in the evenings. Maybe we need to make a that a new years resolution we will keep!! After all, Easter is coming,, I wanna look good when I do the Easter Cantata at church!! And I never even thought about the muscle mass thing and how your heart is a muscle!! Thats kinda scary!! We better get on the ball!!!
