Feeling discouraged....
Since I started working fulltime (I work from 5pm-midnight) and it's such a screwy schedule, I have been keeping a journal. Just a small notebook and I write down if I take my vitamins and what I eat daily. You could keep track of your water intake as well. I also write down things I need to do that day such as errands or laundry because it keeps me more accountable.
Stick with it and make sure you are getting enough protein and water and the weight will come off.

Well, I put your figures into my spreedsheet and you're on the low side of the forum's average, but not by much. You've lost 14.1% and the low average range is 14.4%. But remember, you're at the very end of our population cycle. Those in the last few dates of the month are suffering a 3 week lag, which is pretty significant this early out.
On the outside of the average are people who got their surgery early in the month, and a few of them are well above average. Over the next couple of months the 4 week time lage will start to play less and less importance, and I think you'll find yourself right at the middle of the road for this surgery.
Till then, post in the Slow Losers Club and I'll add you to the spreadsheet tonight. You're doing fine!
Cynthia,
Please hang in there. I am the same way actually (sshhhh..dont tell anyone) . Had my surgery 9/22 and I still struggle daily with water, protein, and vitamin intake.
I started at 241 lbs and up until last week only lost 34 pounds also. (Crazy huh?)
All I can do is say to keep trying. I was getting real discouraged with myself and still do actually, but I know that I am working on becoming more consistent each day. I FINALLY found a decent protein bar and have found drinking fluids is easier with a straw for me. I know some don't like or recommend it, but it does not give me gas or pain so I use it and it really helps.
As for vitamins, I take Optisource and they require 4 a day and I usually get it 2-3. What I started doing is popping 1 in the morning when I wake up, then 1 with each meal to try and remember to get them all in.
Please contact me with any questions!
Take care
Mary
Hi Cynthia,
I don't know about you, but I've been a yo-yo loser for many, many years and I know the weight I have lost after surgery is weight I won't be gaining back. Every pound lost is a blessing.
I just wanted to share with you what I do about my vitamins. I bought some little zip lock bags from from the Vitamin Shoppe and labeled them with a marker with days of the week and loaded them up with all my vitamins/supplements and my regular meds to last the whole week. I start in the morning carry them with me to work and continue through the day. By the end of the day I can easlily see where I am. It has helped me tremendously. I just had my 3 month bloodwork done and it came out very good. In fact my A1C was down to 5.4 with no diabeties meds since surgery. B12 is good too.
I still struggle with water and protein but I keep at it.
Don't be discouraged...keep on going.
Hugs, Sydney
Hi Cynthia, we had surgery the same day I understand your frustration with getting in enough protein and vitamins.... I struggle with that myself. I keep vitamins at my desk and in my bag that I carry into work in hopes that I will see it and remember. I have placed my vitamins on top of the microwave at my apt so it's the first thing I see when I walk into my kitchen. This has helped me...
I think you have done Very well with your weight loss, keep up the good work!
I have a weekly container for my vitamins and meds. I fill it for each day once a week and carry it with me. When I am at work I take out that days supply and put on my desk and take them through out the day. I also keep a journal on what I eat. I have been doing that since I had the surgery. I keep track of food, water and protien. Otherwise I would never remember if I had enough. I keep protien shakes in my fridge at home and at work and I eat one protien bar a day which is 20 grams of protien. I hope this helps.
Carol
ps. my favorite protien bars are pure protien and protien plus.
