I haven't started the ab chair yet either...I'm almost afraid to I go to Ladies Workout Express 5 times a week and I always pass that up in the circuit...I am thinking that I will start it after the first of the year when I am out almost 4 months...but I'll ask my doctor at my visit on 12/15. Linda

Linda let me know what he says. I am like you. I am so afraid to get on that sucker. But it is stirring at me in the face. I just want to start toning that area. But I know I am not ready. I had open surgery. I get slittle sore when I am on the elliptical. But that has gone away. So i think the ab cahir would do me in. Thanks Barb

I asked at my 3 week -- they said 6 weeks for all exercise except for abs, 3 months for abs -- and of course, if it hurts, especially in the area of the incisions, STOP!

Is it that you can't do the abdominal and waist exercise because your procedure was open...or does this apply to laproscopic (sp) procedures too. I've been doing a few sit ups from the bed with a pillow behind my back and my feet up...I thought it was ok to do. I've only been doing a few, like 10 or so each morning. Do you think this will cause hernia later? Monique =)

Monique, I feel this way because of the open surgery. If you have no pain. I dont think you will hurt yourself. I have heard of alot of people doing abdominal excercises at 6 weeks out. But none have had open. I am afraid because of the open surgery. I have no Ideal about the lap. Happy Holidays Barb

That makes me feel a little better...it wasn't hurting at all, but I have heard some people say they end up having to have hernia surgery after WLS. I was a lap so very, very different healing time from the open procedure where in they cut through all your abdominal muscles which need mmore time to heal. Thanks again Barb and Happy Holidays to you and your family too Monique

I have the ab lounge chair and the ab scissors and the 6 second abs. I do all three. my surgeon knows it. I had the lap rny. I don't overdo the chair though. about 5 to 10 a day. the ab scissors I do about 20 three times a day and the 6 second abs I do whenever I feel like it lol. just dont overdo any of it. if you begin to hurt or feel sore stop! you should really ask your surgeon though. good luck hugs

Hey ... I am 12 weeks out, and my doctor ok'd me to go back to work and to lift/pull, exercize as my body would let me after 6 weeks. Don't know if this is the same as everyone else, but I've been at the gym doing circuit training for over 1 month now, and have had no problems. Marianne
