dumping symptoms?

Hi all, My name is Nicole and I had my surgery on sept 8th, I was wondering has anyone experienced dumping, and if so what are the symptoms? I ended up in the ER on Thanksgiving I have been battleing a cold and I took some cough medicine, well a couple hours after that I was in such severe pain, I was having pain in my stomach, back and then it was radiating to my chest, I thought I was having a heartattack. It was the worst pain I have ever had, and it lasted for 2 hours. Nicole.

to me that sounds like the dumping........i read that what u had is a symptom... i havent had the dumping feeling yet.....

I've only "dumped" once (I think ) it was a horrible feeling. My stomach hurt..my heart was pounding really hard and really fast..I couldn't stop yawning...I HAD to lay down and sleep ...I slept for about 2 hours and when I woke up I was fine. Sounds to me as tho the cough syrup you took had too much sugar in it. I don't know if they make a "sugar free" cough medicine over the counter or not...I hope so because I'm coming down with a terrible cold and will need it probably tonight. Yes they do make sugar free cough medicine. And yes what you experienced was dumping. The same thing happened to me about a month and a half ago when i ate shrimp and I ending up spending three hours in ER only for them to tell me it had to run its course. Melanie
