Hi, To get your body to think it's in "hunting mode" and out of "starvation mode", you have to up your exercise to get your metabolic rate up. This means you have to exercise for at least 15 minutes at a peak heart rate. By doing this, you'll trick your body into thinking that you are indeed in hunting mode (ie: back in the cavemen days) and your metabolism should kick into gear. To figure out your peak heart range (or maximum heart range) for exercising, do this: subtract your age from 220 as follows: MHR= 220 - age For example, the max heart rate for the average 40-year-old is: 220 - 40 = 180 This link will help you calculate your percentages of ranges: http://www.accd.edu/spc/kine/kdept/kine1114_thr.htm Hope this helps. paula
