Need some food ideas!

Hello everyone! I had my surgery 9/1/05 and I desperately need some food ideas. I can eat soups and potatoes, but anything else I'm kinda scared to try. I'm not complaining too much. I've lost 77 pounds since surgery, and gone down about 4 pant sizes. But I've had a few dumping episodes. It's not even the throwing up that bothers me, it's the pain that comes before that. Does anyone have any recommendations for meal ideas? And any other protein sources? I cannot stand the shakes!! Ugh! Alicia 305/228/150

Congrats on your loss! I could not do it without a protein supplement, so here is what I do: Unjury shake - 1x/day. Sometimes have to choke it down, but do it anyway ( I mix 4 ice cubes, 1 cup water, 5 frozen strawberries and 1 scoop strawberry unjury to make my shake) Sometimes I use a cup of milk, a sprinkling of SF Tang with Vanilla unjury to boost the protein to 31g). Protein bar: I like Atkins bars (available at Walmart) - 19g protein. I use it as a meal replacement, or late afternoon snack. Stallone's protein pudding (available at GNC) -21g protein. I have this at night if I can stomach it. Real food: 1/2 c Oatmeal, mixed with one scoop of Genisoy protein powder, 1/4 banana, milk and some splenda. YUM! 30g protein!! This goes down nicely. (tip: mix the Genisoy powder with some warm water to make a runny paste before mixing into the oatmeal to avoid lumps) Tofu: I cannot tolerate chicken or pork, so I am doing tofu for the 1st time in my life. Tolerate it well actually. Dennison's Fat free Chili with beans: 10 g protein in 1/2 cup. I can now eat a full cup of this over 30 minutes. A slice (~1oz) of deli meat (turkey or pastrami) with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese spread inside and rolled up. This is usually what I pack for lunch, along with a Lite and Fit yogurt. Mashed potatoes with 1 scoop of Genisoy mixed in (same as with the oatmeal). I try to get my protein requirements in and then use food to supplement, vs. trying to eat, then supplementing with protein. If I do food first, I don't meet the 60-80g protein a day requirement that my doc set for me. Hope this helps! Denise

Believe it or not, I've had great results from Wendy's Chili. It is also loaded with protein. I've also had luck with a product called Carb Solutions Alfredo sauce. I cut up bite size pieces of chicken in about half the jar ( i live alone) I quarted raw mushrooms (optional) I add a small sprig of rosemary and let it simmer, about 5 minutes before it's done I throw in some frozen peas. I microwave a small potato, remove the skin and use "I can't believe it's not butter" SPRAY. MMMMMMMMMMMMM. LET ME KNOW IF ANY OF THIS HELPED....Oh by the way my surgery was 8/16/05 and I've lost 65 so far. You're doing better than me....That's great.
